Download Helper Button Problem

Downloading by clicking 'download helper' works on my desktop. I also have TRS2010 on the laptop. I can download via FTP button okay but not by using the direct 'download helper' button. I always get the 'page unavailable' message. I have checked all the settings and they are identical on both computers. I resort to loading 'all' on content manager main view and selecting the item and clicking download. That works, but it is the long way round.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem, please?

Are you trying to say that you cannot download via the download helper in CM from your laptop with out clicking on each item individually when they are in the "assets" panel? You can't drag them into the download helper window? Is the download helper clear?

Hmmmm ... So it's not just me then ...

I think he's saying that when he clicks on the Download Helper button on the Black pages he gets a 'page unavailable' screen in his web browser instead of the item being added to his DL queue in CMP/CM2/CM3.

I also have this problem on my Laptop (but not my DT) but as my DT is my main Trainz machine I've never worried about it, But if someone has an answer I'd be interested to know it.

For reference I'm using Win7Ult 32bit + I.E.8 on both machines.

Cheers

Andi

Andi put it much better than I did. That is exactly what is happening. It is Windows 7 too. Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks.
Allan.

I just tried it from my Windows 7 laptop. First of all; I can't find a button that's labeled "Download Helper" on the Black Pages. I was able to download an item with no issues however.

The button that he is talking about on the TRS2004 DLS will either say "Download (Helper)" or just "Download". ;)

Regards.

Well, I used the "Download" button, my 2010 CM opened, and the item appeared under the Download Helper Panel. From there I was able to click on Start, and the item downloaded and installed without incident.

I think I know what has happened.

Does the program mention no program associated or similar?

If so, which web browser are you using?

(Also, make sure Trainz is running as administrator, this will help things)

A picture tells a thousand words ...... hehe

First off, @Sparkspank, Look at the top of each forum page for the Helpdesk button.

@Shane, As far as I know 09 is running as Admin (not sure how to find out but I'm using the only account on the machine .. i.e. Admin)

Finally just to clear it up this is what I get when I press the button circled in first screenie (I'm taking it that this is what Allan gets as well)

P.S. Thanks for the BD greetings guys.

OK, the problem you have is that Trainz is not actually running as administrator.

To enable this:
1.Right-click the Trainz shortcut, then click Properties.
2.Click Compatibilty.
3.Under Privilege level, click in the box labelled 'run this program as an administrator' to place a tick.
4.Click OK.

To verify, simply run the shortcut - you should get a Yes/No or Continue/Cancel box.

Once this is done, run Content Manager once to set up the missing registry information.

Shane, You are a star:Y:  :Y:

I hope this works for Allan as it has worked for me (and I've only had the laptop 18 months :hehe: )

I join with Andi in thanking Shane for the solution to our problem. I followed the instructions and it didn't work first time. Did a restart and it is downloading excellently now. Once again Shane you have solved an irritating Trainz problem - many thanks. Allan.

I endorse Andi's comments about Shane's solution. I followed his instructions but it didn't work for me first time. Did a restart and was able to download from DLS without any problems. Once again Shane has fixed an irritating problem in Trainz. Many thanks to Shane and all who replied.
Allan.
