Download error

When I download from the DLS usually I get an error, forcing me to restart the computer. It says that problem started from the file nv4_disp.exe and it got stuck in an infinite loop.

Has this happened to anyone else and is there a way to fix it?

Thanks

That's a serious one - there is a problem with your graphics drivers (when did it start happening, as you may need to use System Restore)

Assuming you have the graphics card install disc you could remove n/vid from your system then re install. Update the drivers straight away before use.

Ok, have not tried the above yet, I don't think I can do so.

What is unusual is that this error ONLY occurs when downloading Trainz content. Not only in CM, but when I am downloading missing dependencies when starting a multiplayer session, in game, the error comes here as well.

So why only when downloading Trainz stuff and its a graphics driver error?

I could be wrong but I seem to recall reading that CMP uses OpenGL exclusively for output e.g. thumbnails. Have you tried running the game itself (i.e. Driver) in DirectX? As I understand it, this won't help much with CMP, but might for the game itself. Post back here with your results to continue debugging this issue.

Try running a CHKDSK on your drive. Even though the error is happening in CM, there could be something wrong with the data on your drive, causing the machine to reboot when the information is written to it. I've seen this before with other Windows programs,

Another thing too, if your drive shows no errors, then try running a database repair. The database could be corrupt, and when the assets are committed to the database, the machine reboots because the information, loaded into memory is messed up.

Any luck running in DirectX? John's advice is sound. More importantly, if you run chkdsk and find a lot of bad sectors - or a growing number from last time you checked - it means your disk is about to fail. I hope you have backed up Trainz and your other important data. If not, do that first and foremost.
