Does anybody know if there are any good White Pass & Yukon routes out there?

I can't find any good WP&Y routes, and I want to know if there is any for download.

There was a great one at TrainzItalia, but it seems to have disappeared. It was one of Jango's creations, and was being updated, but he has sadly passed away, so we may never see the updated version. There are a couple on the DLS I have downloaded, but I have not tried them yet, so cannot comment:

The WP&Y by Jango was retired at his request, as he thought it required updating to take advantage of the new capabilities introduced in the latest versions.

He also had other projects ongoing:

• the "West from Denver", which was completed and included in TRS22
• a new version of the Sebino Lake that was almost finished
• the Donner Pass and the Sherman Hill which were at an unknown level of completion.

Unfortunately, it looks like no work was done on this route. The route was published for TS2010 and as far as I know, still uses 2D trees which will look awful in the latest versions: I loaded the Sherman Hill v2.1a from our website and they don't look too bare, but there is a world of difference between the barren hills of Wyoming and the Alaskan forest.

It could theoretically be updated to current standards by trees with SpeedTrees, but this would be a useless effort since ST are replaced by the new vegetation. We are waiting to have a reasonable amount of bugs killed in the new vegetation before we launch in such a huge effort. In plain English: we plan to update it, but not soon.

I thought I remembered following a thread about the updated WP&Y years ago, but when I search, I don't find it. It would be great if those routes could be released to someone with the wherewithal to see them to completion! Or at least make the original Donner available again.

the best way to to that is make them available on the DLS and allow people to update them as they see fit. I would probably have updated some of them by now but I will not do that purely for own use. I prefer to work so that others can enjoy routes as I rarely if ever drive any route for enjoyment, I prefer to create routes rather than do game play, i don't find much challenge in doing that..

Drifting off topic here but.....I warned ya. LOL

I'm with ya man! I'll spend many hours developing a route. Absolutely despise making a session and the only times I can remember "playing" a session was the Murchison, a couple of philskene Model routes and Coal Country.

I also noticed the "Screenshots" thread here on the forums. There are two kinds of people posting. The developer and the "railfan". It is easy to tell the difference....lol. How about YouToob videos....same thing there. I have seen two hour long videos of entire 1 mile long trains rolling by a road crossing. Horns blaring and that annoying bell. I'm not putting anyone down here, to each his or her own right? I'm not a rail fan but I do enjoy watching a steam engine for a bit.
