Does anybody have any information on the Chateaugay Railroad?

If all goes well for me, I will be volunteering on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. I have little bits of info on the railroad but I would like to know about what kinds of rolling stock and engines were used on the line. Does anbody know?

The Chateaugay railroad was swallowed by the D&H a century ago, so their engines would have been small steam locomotives. I've seen references to narrow gauge, but not to what gauge was used.

I have no info. But I'm glad to hear you will be volunteering! It is one of the best decisions I personally have ever made. I volunteer at the Monticello Railway Museum and I've been a member since 2006.

Trust me, Ive been into trains for my whole life. After I'm done with college, I hope I can pursue a real career on the railroads.


And btw, It was 3 ft gauge on the Chateaugay Railway.

I grew up spending my summers on the Fulton Chain of Lakes. Its beautiful country and I envy your chance. Check out the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake. They have all kinds of info and pictures of trains since that was the only way to get around up there. Enjoy and keep us posted.
