Do you need something to help determine a proper speed around a curve?

I've created a little utility for Windows which I call "Trainz Speed Calculator".

As of this posting, the current version is 2.1.7

I downloaded this yesterday and forgot my manners to say thank you for a really useful utility.

You forgot? ;) I'm thinking you just got wrapped up in the moment of something new... Besides, you just did, so you didn't forget your manners. I'm glad you find it useful!

Can I ask, as I haven't much bothered with measuring curve radii in the past, about the number that shows in Trainz (Surveyor) when you hover over the track - is this a measurement in meters or feet? (I've switched between imperial and metric measurement in my route, but that doesn't seem to affect the number given for curve radius).

Paul,

AFAIK all measurements in Trainz are in metric. The Metric / Imerial option only affects the ruler in Surveyor - Meters / Feet and the speed display - KPH / MPH.

jcardana,

Just curious, what is the utility written in ? My guess would be .NET, no idea which flavour (C or VB).

Cheers

That's a good guess... but I'm still old school. It was VB6.

Well, if it ain't broke don't fix it, applies in this case ! Moving to .net is a bit like learning a new language in some ways. Did you know you can get free versions of the Microsoft developer IDEs? The 2010 "Express" versions are here http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/products/2010-editions/express they are as good as the full version in most respects. There are also 2012 versions but at the moment I think there is only a Windows 8 Version (Visual Studio 2010 works fine on Vista and should be OK for XP).
