The most recent one (and the one that more or less prompted me to start this thread) happened last night. I was in the mountains of Colorado and happened to walk up on an old, rotting timber trestle that flew over a canyon something like Cascade Trestle on the C&TS. In front of it was a stone tunnel portal reading "Lebanon and Colorado Springs." Even in the dream, i knew it was talking about Leadville, which meant the tunnel had to be the Busk-Ivanhoe. Later on, we came down in the tiny hamlet of Sparks, Colorado, to find abandoned grades and mining tipples galore, along with an old steam engine that looked something like a cross between an Army S118 and a K-36. it had the same name on its tender "Lebanon and Colorado Springs." Suddenly i was back in sparks in the 1890s as the first train on the railroad (which i found out was a part of a grand scheme to built a coast-to-coast 3ft narrow gauge railway) coming into town. I remember guys wearing cowboy hats and six-shooters walking around, looking for a "rabble rouser" from the Union Pacific that was trying to sabotage the railway. somehow, i knew that he had doomed the line to what i saw in the present. when i came back to the modern world, all i could think of was "what would it have been like if this had suceeded." but the only answer i got was the hissing of the steam engine as she left town on the last tourist train of the day.
