Do I need the updates for trainz to run properly?

I only have a 120gb ssd, so I can't be downloading all these updates, most of which, I will never use. But, since my 2 previous trainz installations have been showing errors, I thought it a good idea to update. I'm seeing in CMP that some of these foreign locomotive cabs are in the double digit megabyte category, which when all combined, is really hurting my storage space.

If you don't use them you don't need to update them. Have a good look and only update what you use.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Since it seems you're new, I'll bet most of those updates are for built-in content. You don't need to update that. If you had downloaded DLS content that was flagged as faulty, then just update those.

You don't have to update, although you may find things you download later won't work with old versions. Good advice to only update what you use. Don't forget though that what you update, and assuming it works OK, you will have an obsolete version of that you can delete, so virtually no difference in disk space used. Search in content manager for Location = Local + Obsolete = True and if you are brave like I am, select all and delete the lot in one go. The only ones you can't delete are updated builtins, because the original is coded in the JA files.

Thanks guys, I didn't really think I needed all those updates, seeing as I use mostly downloaded content. Clam, I'll give your suggestion a try. What's life without a little risk? lol :D

Add built in=false to the search and this will give you only downloaded content.

If you are planning to play some multiplayer, you will need the updates of assets that are needed for those sessions and routes.
