Hi everybody.
Lego207, with every respect to your above posting, but I do not believe that any great number of forum members will have moved on in regard to any permanent basis. The Trainz hobby has a very dedicated following many of whom have followed the franchise since its conception and they will not depart Trainz or this forum as long as both exist.
However, much has been happening in the I.T industry of recent that has undoubtedly drawn the attention of at least some forum members who can be witnessed posting in regards to those developments on other forums. By example, Amazon's huge seasonal sales of the Alexa Echo as compared to Google's struggles to launch its competitor " Google Home". There was also the debacle of Samsung's Galaxy Note which undoubtedly left the door open for Microsoft to at last step into the mobile market in a "big way" but they seem to have once again missed the opportunity.
The above and much else involving the gaming industry have caused comment on any number of forums and social media sites with many new members to those sites joining the debates. That stated, I have no doubts that when anything new develops from within N3V all the regulars will be back.

I think its more likely most folks have moved on to either different forums or left the game and/or community completely. Fair enough whatever they decide to do though, their choices after all.
Cheers,
SM
