DLS sells moldy stuff!

Dear Al.sa

I've learnt (hard experience) that one person does not represent a country / racial group / relgion etc.

Every one of us has different views and feeling - all we have to do is to respect everyone else! Much harder to do than to write.

Regards,

Colin

p.s. You will (or may) see that there is a sense of hunour on the form (sometimes it's stange!)

Hi,

1) The DLS does NOT SELL Stuff.
All the assets you see have been created by other Trainz users and uploaded - no-one gets paid for their assets on the DLS.

Colin

Yes, Colin, that's it, alright. But...

I sent my humble stuff bona fide (-and after reading the conditions a long long time ago-) to be enjoyed and downloaded for all the owners of any Trainz version, not the ones that the new owners of Trainz would decide as an afterthought. That's what we called at my home 'breaking the rules of the game while playing'. :p No more uploading to the DLS from me. Everybody can get it for free from IBTZ, a non deceptive trainzy home.

Take care, trainzy friends.

It's a shame that the excellent content will not get as wide a distribution as it might.

Yes, maybe a pity, but at this time of the game almost everybody knows where IBerTrainZ or TPR stand out after having playing the game for almost eight years now.

The DLS concept -universal for all owners of a registered copy of Trainz- was one of the milestones by the good old Auran team which most of us cheered and contributed to... -it was our generous contribution to Auran for having made our dream model trains come true- but at this time of the game somebody is spoiling the third half of it. Some of us are rather disappointed with this twist of playstyle...

Please, don't get me wrong, I deeply respect and applaud the creators who seem to be myriads of them and trust the goodness and fairness of the DLS still... ; of course I'll be using it :hehe:, but I'm too old to change the rules of game while playing... I wasn't taught so at my behaviourist Alma Mater. ;)

Take care, dear old trainzy friend A_M -thank you very much for your kind words to my humble content- and have a nice week.

2) Check that the asset you are downlaoding is compatible with your version of Trainz - there have been many changes over the different versions, and some of those created in new versions are not compatible with the old versions - eaually, the old assets may work with the new Software - they may not.

Colin

True i think it MIGHT BE a fatal error as ive had it with 06.. So i dont know really what it says..
Im not a Gibberish translater so i cant tell you :hehe::hehe:

Sorry to be picky, but the box art work on my copy of TRS04 says:

"A total of over 15,000 different routes, locos, scenery objects, rolling stock and much more available from the official online Trainz Download Station."

As far as I can see that does not state that it will always be available nor that it is or always will be free. Maybe that was stated by Auran elsewhere?

I wonder how many creators and users are now boarding the 3rd party express – or just not bothering any more?

I am thinking about hopping a Train now and move all my content and future content to a working available web site. For TRS2004/TRS2009 Items

Hi A_C,

Let's assume you are right -and IMHO you aren't since the original contractual conditions were not those on a game box but the contractual ones prior to uploading-, and then somebody decided to change the rules of the game for the the DLS... after spending a night at the opera with the Marxes. :p

We all can also change the rules of the game, not only the Grouchian part of "the first part of the party of the first part shall be known in this contract as the first part of the party of the first part, shall be known in this contract" :hehe:

--> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzfiBMRDc5Y

;) :hehe:
And that's what this first party of the third party has done: Changing my rules of the game, since the first part of the first party broke out with them unilaterally.

;)

Bothering trainzers any longer, do you mean that, dear Casper?

By no means, I'm not bothering trainzers any longer at all ;) at the DLS.

I'm afraid that they'll have to bother themselves going to the IBTZ or TPR or TrainzIT sites, which is a quite fair deal, don't you think so? ;)

Take care, my trainzy friend.

Privileges in community-driven content

Hi, all! I'm VERY new to the forums, have owned and enjoyed The Complete Collection for a couple of years now. Came on to look for rolling stock for hauling livestock in U.S. scenarios and was surprised to find one needs to buy a FCT. At X-Plane, download privileges are free. Content designed and uploaded by members are for sharing, not for profit, and they just bought a bunch of super-duper servers to handle the increasing traffic. We bought the game, we get support, we visit the sponsors, buy from the store, and they can afford new servers without selling privileges to the DLS. I guess the idea is that in any community, it's bad manners to, for example, charge your neighbor for the right to borrow your lawn mower. But as was mentioned previously, new management will frequently come on board and start changing the rules. That's life.
I'll go visit IBTZ and see if I can find a livestock car for less than $12.99 US$.

Nice to see friendly enthusiasts here! I'll be around. Let's keep them rolling!

Respectfully submitted,
Kev aka AlanG4224

You don't need an FCT to access the DLS, you can still access it without. It just helps to have an FCT as you will likely never get the "Server is Full" message and you will also be able to download at highspeed rather than 4k/s.

Also helps if you register your version of Trainz using the 'Serial Number' button above ;)

@ Nathan:
Oh, I didn't know that, and I didn't get that idea reading the FCT notice on the first page of the DLS...maybe I did not look at it close enough. The last I heard, what you said was true, but I got the impression that that had changed, too. Thank you for that clarification!

4 kps? Whoa, that is pretty slow. But I've got all day if I'm only looking for one item. I'll search the threads for other answers to questions. Still trying to work up a decent profile, and I'll register my s/n as advised...y'all be patient with me. I'll get up to speed soon enough.

Good evening Alberte.

Many of the regular members are Trainz addicts, so will always “bother” to do whatever they feel necessary to pursue their hobby.

I hope we have not had a problem with our translation here. I can understand how some words can change the meaning of what is intended.

“Bother”, in Google, translates to Spanish as “molestar”, which when translated back to English makes an unfortunate change to “annoy”.

In the UK, we also use the term “bother” to mean “to take the trouble to do something”, which is the intended meaning in my post in relation to the DLS.

I’ve had many fine assets from your site Alberte – never with any bother at all!

I full intent to continue to use IBTZ, TPR and TrainzIT sites, and many others, with grateful thanks.

Cheers
Casper
:)

;) Just joking with the two-fold meaning, Casper. ;) I did understand your first intention. :D Never mind, my friend. :p Your bothering served for mine. :hehe:

Take care, and thank you for your kind words.
