DLS route size limit

Greetings, I carried out a forum search for the answer to this question, but didn't find a recent one.

Is there a hard limit to the size of a route that can be uploaded to the DLS in the current TANE iteration ?

I'm thinking of uploading one of the routes I have built in recent years, but fear it might be too large.

Any pointers would be awesome, thanks in advance !

512Mb is not actually that big at all for contemporary standard routes. Using 5m terrain resolution will chew through it, hence my suggestion in another current thread to only use this around the track and 10m elsewhere. Every item, grass blade, outhouse, doghouse and henhouse you place in a route will add to the amount of data stored for each tile as will the terrain painting. Zipping to cdp generally reduces the route size to about a quarter of that seen when the route is expanded. Open for edit in cmp (with explorer) and if your .gnd file is getting near 2Gb then you are near to hitting the limit. Even a 50 or 60 mile highly detailed route could be pushing it...

Good info from all, much appreciated, I will keep the 2gig groundfile size in mind for sure.

If I open it for edit, it's only 140 meg for a 75km DEM route, so that should be a piece of cake. I had it in my head that the limit was 40 meg or something. It's been a while since I uploaded the single route I did upload because I was a TRS2010 holdout until recently.

Ok, I uploaded the route (DSEPR01 The REAL Black Forest) by pressing the CMP menu item "Upload to DLS" without first enquiring here if this is the best method for items under 512 meg. It seemed to go through with no errors or warnings for the route or any of the sessions.

I should have asked before doing it, but is this upload method known to be reliable these days?

EDIT: never mind, I got the approval email already, so it is obviously fine. Years ago it was more of a drama from memory. Case closed!
