DLS CLEAN-UP. The missing ones!

I've just repaired and uploaded a KUID 2 of MagicLand's 'Subway', (58843:50013) which is his bogey for many of his NYCTA trains.

However, when I tried to find one of the trains 'Subway' is a dependency of, it wasn't there. His NYCTA R46 & R46B trains have a very simple config fix, (now that I’ve updated the bogey anyway), to get them to work in TS2010

I couldn’t find either 58843:323 or 58843:324 on the Public Repair List... or any of his many others.

So, if a broken item is missing from the list, does this mean someone else is already repairing it.... or that it will be there in the future.... or that it will never be there?

It would be nice to make these trains available to all in TS 2009/10.

Any ideas?

I don't think *all* assets are on the list yet, it looks like the first pass is bogies, enginespecs and scenary, after that we'll most likely get trains, rolling stock and routes. Which makes sense really, no point letting people fix the trains if the enginespec and bogies aren't fixed first.

Assets on the DLS are being scanned in batches. Once an asset is flagged as needing repair, the creator is sent an email and given 8 weeks to repair the asset. If it remains unrepaired after that period, it is added to the list.

This is true, but I believe what boat was commenting on, and something I have seen, is that I'll grab a bogie to fix, and find that the locomotive(s) that uses it is also in need of repair, but then check and find that the locomotive isn't on the list.

If it's an intentional act to get the dependencies fixed first, then that's ok - I understand, and I imagine others do too - although the cleanup might progress faster if we were able to repair the higher order assets along with their dependencies, since we need to do *some* repair work to get the asset working to test the dependencies.

Still, it's shocking to realise that the 130+ page list of assets ready to be cleaned is missing a LOT of assets that will need repair at some point :)

I think you are correct about the categories. I've seen some creators that have just got a few emails while they have thousands of items on the DLS. Terry was the one that said they have doing batches so as to not overwhelm the DLS servers. Most likely during off hours.

That makes a lot of sense from what I'm seeing.

Thanks John
