Digital Download Question

The Chicago CTA guy
I have been pondering on what to do about TRS2010 and TRS12.

I plan on buying 2010 for some of the routes included in it, and so that I can start updating my content with the goal off adding it to TRS12 in the next 6 months or so. TRS2010 is down to $33 USD, I still have an active voucher for 2010. And I want to wait at least 2 or 3 months to buy 12 so that Auran has some time to fix a few bugs, and I have time to save more money up.

But I am concerned about the Digital Download. I actually lost a copy of Silent Hunter 5 once. I was stupid. I lost the email for the download. And to top it off I paid extra for a 2 year extended download.

$40 gone right there, I am still hunting for the website. So since then, I have ONLY bought games digitally via Steam. You can't lose a steam game, ever. I should have bought Silent Hunter 5 from Steam, but I didn't, I was stupid.

What is Auran's policy on Digital downloads? I can still access and review all of my serial numbers for 2004, 2006, and TC1&2. Is the Auran download only for a fixed amount of time? Or say 2 years down the road if I lose the file, can I redownload the game if I need? I don't mind having to use helpdesk if I have to, I just want to know if its at all possible.

I could be wrong, so don't quote me on this :p

Your digital downloads are recorded with Auran, so all you should have to do would be to go to your Auran profile, click on 'order history' and it should show all purchases you have made from them (mine show from back in 2009 btw). Click on the particular order you desire to reinstall, and it should open up and show the files needed to d/l; just click on each file to start the ftp process and download all files shown. After that it's just a matter of installing and re-entering the correct serial number for the program you are reinstalling.

EDIT: I have just went to my profile and order history and checked for my old orders for TS2009 and TS2010, and all show the necessary download files and allowed me to download them again.

You can and will lose a game on Steam when they decide they don't want to support it anymore. Then you lose everything you paid for, whether you have the files or not. Your own example of Silent Hunter 5 is a testament to how easily you can lose your investment and are rendered with worthless, unusable software,as the game goes out whenever the internet hiccups.

That said, I'm not totally sure for Trainz proper, but Auran doesn't seem to have a time limit on other digital downloads. They should be right under your Order History.

:hehe: I'm quoting you because you're being a right and sensible advisor. ;)

Digital Downloading at former Auran/current N3VRF41L has always been one of the most honest not-very-quick-but-steady downloading shops I have ever encountered in my now long life as an Internet customer.

As long as the Company keeps being and the product is not obsoleted and completely removed from the Company's server, your downloading links are sound and safe. The Planet Auran system has been one of the great goals from good old Auran and now enhanced by N3VRF41L.

I've always trusted the system and found no disappointment from it.

Yes, we all know the helpdesk could be faster at answering but we also know that Mr Zec Murphy is doing his best. Hope that the post offered for the Helpdesk and Community assistant can be taken in soon. :hehe: If I had been much younger I might have applied to it... after all I might have taken some fast trainz to get to Brisbane every day... :hehe: Thousands of kilometres are not an obstacle at all. Besides if counted in miles they are fewer. :p

BTW, I haven't had to use the helpdesk for years, which is a good sign. OK, OK, I know, sometimes I had a direct line opened to Brisbane in the past, you've uncovered me. :D

Give the Company what it's the Company's and me what's is yours :hehe:

The also-knowing-how-to-praise side of Alberte
