Diesel/Hydrolic locomotive

Hi guys,

I saw a little diesel/hydrolic locomotive a few years ago that has ' grab claws' that can help it along when it gets tired. The 'claws' have arms that extend from under the chassis and grabs onto the rails in direction of travel and helps it pull . I cannot remember what the make is and I don't see any literature on it or pic's. Does anybody have more info on this or similar locomotives please.

Not sure about that. I saw it in the railway yard in the harbour here in South Africa. Just cannot remember any more details about it, whether it was working or just standing possibly waiting to be moved elsewhere - time goes past so fast - I mentioned a few years ago, but it is more like in the late 80's or early 90's I realise now.
