Did steam locos need to look like steam locos?

wow.. a cool locomotive I think.
Here is my favourite Garrat - class GL , the largest and strongest used on SAR&H ( South African Railways and Harbours - wayyyyy back then when I was young and pretty , now just pretty ) Not created yet for trainz :'(
