DEM Help

I was watching one of the video tutorials on the TransDEM website and was wondering if anyone knew of any websites that have vector data for the U.S. like the website used in the video? (Second tutorial video on TransDEM forums page.) Would be a big help, thanks.
There are different data sources. The classic one for the US was the DLG or "Digital Line Graph", first generation vector data, digitized from the 1:24k raster maps. The data is no longer that easy to find, but USGS Earth Explorer still has them. The data format is either SDTS or opt. You will need a tool, "DLG2SHP", to convert into something TransDEM can understand. The tool should still be around on a number of websites.

You also have to get rid of the bounding boxes. The TransDEM simple vector editor can help.

A bit cumbersome, but doable.

The latest vector data source, the current edition of the topo maps in GeoPDF format, does not yet come with the railroad layer, so we don't have to worry how to extract the data as vectors.

There is a big PRR eastern route (PA/NJ/DE/MD/DC) for MSTS. A guy made the entire NEC from Boston to Washington in Trainz, it's only available by request. Large routes are possible in train sims. I have a large PA/NJ route for Trainz, it's going to cover rail lines from Hoboken, NJ to Horseshoe Curve area in PA, also including Reading and Northern lines in PA and NS ex-Reading line from Reading to Philadelphia. It's still incomplete in parts.

I may keep the large route as I am able to import it into TS12 and I upgraded my mobo CPU and memory and it seems to be doing better. Now to buy a better vid card ;)

I need a connecting DEM (@ 20 baseboards) from Petersburg Pa, to Mt Union Pa ... so I can merge my EBT RR, to my PRR DEM
It won't really fit. MicroDEM/HOG/TIGER based routes are not aligned with the UTM grid. It is even not sure that they are in UTM projection at all and whether scale is correct.

ok guys when i tried to clean up my dem kuid's out of my route because the route is landscaped the way i want it, its showing a bunch of missing dependencies, half of them are my own kuid's and the others i don't know what they are?

If you post the list of missing dependencies, we can tell you what they are, maybe.

If you can't find anything missing in Surveyor, do a delete missing assets and go on from there. I suggest a backup of the route first just in case.

I have another question,

When I try to import a completed DEM into Content Manager, TADDaemon.exe encounters a problem and needs to close. However, it still shows the installing content box. I have yet to try to let it process. Does this error prevent importing content from working, or is this an unnecessary thing and it will work anyways?

Thanks.
