Delivering containers

Is there a particular way of delivering containers. The train stops at Deliveries. The multiple industries says it will accept 40 foot containers, but it doesn't. What am I doing wrong?

Hi there,

I do think that first you should tell us what you are doing with screenies showing up the wagons you are using and the multiple industry configuration you are using. Use the "?" button if you are using Surveyor Classic.

The what-to-do side of Alberte :D

I am using Surveyor Classic. I have a NSW train with 40 foot containers which I picked ujp at a Container Station and now I wasn't to drop them off at another container station with a Deliveries area which says it will receive 40 foot containers but stops and does the right things but the containers stay where they are.
I hope that makes sense

Hi there,

Ok, let's start where you picked up the containers.

  • You have to make sure that the second container station delivery area is configured to accept the 40-foot containers - in Surveyor click on the ? button in the scenery mode tab-.
  • There many many assets for 40-foot container products. Check that the second container station can consume the same 40-foot container product you have picked at the first one. Also, check that the queue for that container isn't already full. If full, no unload will happen.
  • Of course, I want to think that you have emitted the driver commands 'Navigate to... (your second container station --> drop-off or unload area)' and then 'Unload'. If not, no unload will happen.
  • It would be very useful for us if you can take screenies of the dialogue window after you click on the ? button of the second container station for us to see if it's configured correctly (as I did above on my screenie).
Try it, plz.

The contained side of Alberte ;)

The standard Trainz "Container Station" industry just loads containers and will not ever unload containers. It does have a track on the other side of the industry's yard that accepts deliveries of General Goods.

There is a sign over the two container loading tracks that, if it has not been edited, will say "Container Station 1" or something similar in larger black letters above the smaller blue lettering. Most of us edit the larger black lettering to a unique industry name. Someone could have put the word deliveries above the blue lettering.

The smaller blue lettering says:
"20 ft CONTAINERS PICK UP THIS WAY"
"GENERAL GOODS DELIVERIES OTHER SIDE OF STORAGE BAY"
"40 ft CONTAINERS PICK UP THIS WAY"

If this is the correct Container Station asset, it will never unload containers. No matter what the sign says.

There used to be a Seaport industry that unloaded containers, but I'm not seeing it in TRS19.

For any multiple industry to work properly, you first need to set it up to accept the goods type

Start by creating a new route, click on Objects and place down a Multiple Industry New. I prefer using this one because "Multiple Industry" and "Multiple Industry Basic" are fixed setups, you can only lower or raise the bar for easy queue you want for those multiple industries

To best explain how to setup, I am using Surveyor Classic

1) Place down a multiple industry new
2) Click on the ? button and click on the multiple industry new
3) Give the Multiple Industry New a meaningful name "Port Botany Container Terminal"
4) Set a Description, I will use Load and Unload 20ft, 40ft and 53ft Containers
5) Click on Queues
6) Note, you will see 6 available queues slots here here you will add

Queue 1: Australian 20ft Hicube Intermodal Containers
Queue 2: Australian 40ft Hicube Intermodal Containers
Queue 3: Australian 53ft Hicube Intermodal Containers

7) Note, where you see Size: 100 change the value to something like 250
8) Where you see Tonnes: 0 click to change this value, I just spam 666666 (6 times) and click ok and it will automatically provide a correct value
note, if you want more change the Size value to 500 or higher and again spam the Tonnes value with 666666 (6 times) for the multiple industry new to give you the correct value

(Hopefully, that makes some sense)?

9) Click Tracks and click on the + button
Select the 20ft, add the 40ft and add the 53ft containers, here you make sure that it each are set to Load and Unload from vehicle
Note: If you are a setting up a coal/grain/ballast as an example choose load into vehicle and for unloaders unload from vehicle

10) Click on Processors, you will see a + -> +, the + is to load onto vehicle the ->+ is to unload from vehicle. You will need to setup these for the 20ft, 40ft and 53ft containers

Click on the First + button and add 20ft, 40ft, and 53ft containers
Leave the default settings for Consume

Click on the Second ->+ button and add 20ft, 40ft, and 53ft containers
Leave the default settings for Produce

11) Where it shows duration change the 30 to at least 5 for faster loading and unloading
12) Click Save Changes

It is up to you how you wish to test out how everything works, just add track and be creative to build a route
You can have the multiple industry new on balloon loops, loop lines, sidings, and end track. Once you have track setup to your desire
add a locomotive, container wagons "Make sure that the container wagons" accept the exact same container wagons your multiple industry new consumes and produces "loads/unloads" if they don't you can easily add them

I hope this information helps! It took me ages to finally figure out how to set it up and this is the best way I can explain it
