deleted my user file

Like an idiot I deleted my user file where apparently all of my carefully created routes existed. I have tried every method I know of to retrieve it, to no avail. I am devastated by this stupid move since I spent the last year creating some 20+ routes that included carefully created scenery, etc. Does anyone know of a way that I might could recover this info that was in my user files. I have attempted the recycle bin, using a special program to find deleted files on my computer, all to no avail. I am just about to give up and consider if I want to try to re-create these routes or just throw my hands up. Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

I'm sorry to read this!

If you didn't backup your Build-folder, then you're pretty much SOL. If you only deleted your current route, this would be a different story. A route and other content can easily be recovered by importing the .tzarc files into the editing folder and then running a DBR.

This is why I place the folder elsewhere and call it something else like TRS19_DATA. With a name like that, this will ensure I don't delete it and this is why I backup my data folder to an external drive. With well close to 2TB of content, I can't send this to the cloud so external drives are the only solution.

Assuming you mean your local folder?

the default place on a windows 10 pc is
c:\Users\"Yourname"\AppData\Local\N3V Games\trs19\build "randomname"

so check the dirs there
if you have changed your Local path or made a new install, it might be still there

if you really deleted the entire directory, and its not in the Recycle bin
there is software to retrieve files, do a google search

John, I found a group of .tzarc files. I don't quite understand your advice about importing into the editing folder and running a DBR. Can you elaborate in detail for this 79 year old novice.

Is this for TANE, TRS19 or TRS22?

tzarc files are only in the userdata / local data folder, if you had actually deleted it they wouldn't exist. Assuming like most of us you have Gigabytes of Data it wont have instantly been deleted, you would have the Windows progress bar sitting in the middle of the screen firstly finding out how much data is there and then the progress on the deleting and it would have been glaringly obvious you were deleting a large amount of Data and it can take a few minutes even on an SSD.

Assuming you are using the default location for your user data check and see if there is more than one buildxxxxxxxxxxx folder, its possible you have just lost the link to your userdata, can happen due to a crash or bad shutdown, when that happens a new folder is set up which is basically empty.

If you go to the launcher > Install, where it says local data folder, click the three dots on the end and see if there is more than one buildxxxxxx folder? if there is change to the one with the older date.
