This is a silent film from 1973 following the D&H Alco PA-1s pulling a passenger train from Lanesboro to Starrucca.

What a gorgeous paint job on one of my favorite locomotives. These Alcos are the classic diesels and really are spectactular in the blue and gold paint scheme of the D&H.

Sadly this line was embargoed then abandoned by Guilford Transportation (GTI), now Pan Am Railways, during the early 1980s just after they purchased the D&H in their ill-fated merger.

The line didn't even remain dormant and was scrapped immediately as though GTI couldn't wait to get rid of the tracks! We're lucky we have videos of this line and company in action before they got destroyed. What's left of the D&H has been merged into the Canadian Pacific, but this isn't the same as it once was.

Everybody loves the PA-1 - PAB locos.

Some on the DLS have emergency mars gyra lights.

My American Flyer PA A-B-B-A set had fake 4 wheel axles in the 6 wheel truck sideframes.:hehe:

PA-1s...the coolest dang passenger diesels ever built!

I think so too. Many of the eastern roads had them including the Pennsy, NYC, New Haven, and Lehigh Valley. All of these fallen flags are among my favorite railroads. Alcos rule! It's too bad they went out of business in 1969.
