Decay and detritous

I've already used derelict, rust/rusty and ruined as a search on the DLS and I think I've got as much as I feel I can make use of but I need more decayed buildings, infrastructure and anything else which could be deemed derelict or disused.

This is in particular for siting adjacent to track as is seen commonly around many cities and towns in the UK as I want to try and replicate the atmosphere as closely as possible.

Does anyone know of a good source of this type of thing on a third party site or even if there are items I perhaps haven't found on the DLS?

Hi pfx.


When you use DLS search have you made sure all of the boxes have been ticked below the your version of Trainz? If not tick them, and try your search words again, first in the Title box, then try them again in the Description box.

Other key words worth using are "dirty" and "old".

Have you seen anything posted on the Forum you haven't get found? Most screenshot posters are happy to tell you where particular items you might spot can be located - so you can always ask.

Choose wisely - there's a lot of rubbish about!

try 'Abandoned' as a search term. I know dmdrake, for one, has a few Abandoned Warehouse Splines lying around somewhere.

You may want to try some other terms like: beat up, run down, ghost town, decayed, corroded, refuse, scrap, disused, relic, dusty, deserted, discarded, neglected, and vacant.

No guarantees on any of those terms yielding many results, but it should be enough to sate your appetite for old, chipped and crust-rusted scenery for the time being.

Also, if in doubt, http://thesaurus.com/ shines wonderfully in this sort of situation!

Also try just 'abandon' (as distinct from 'abandoned') - I remember some creator using that rather grammatically incorrect term.

And if possible, apply the searches to the description field, not just the 'username' or title.

Lastly, a lot of the stuff made by Polish trainzers seems to be very dark and weathered, it might be OK as abandoned/derelict stuff.

@ Dinorius - Thanks for the further suggestion. I see you have released a couple of ruined barns, one of which I can use. Along with the other suggestions, I have found a load of new stuff fit (or should that be unfit?) for purpose.
