Dear Auran,

I don't see what other software is on a PC has to do with Trainz problems? This excuse has been used since TRS2006. Since correctly installing Sp3 update I have run the same session 7 times only 3 ran normally. 2 ran at around 4 fps, 1 ran at double sound speed and 1 crashed to desk top when the train entered a portal. After SP3 update I have done 2 extended data base repairs quite a lot of assets failed to validate others did not match data base. On my PC which matches recommended specs usable draw distance is 3,000m as just beyond that textures become large squares and terrain distort to pyramid shaped hills and mountains. Helpdesk no help.
Of course Auran can't test for all possible combinations of PC's, but if that is a valid excuse, why can I install and run programmes like Flight Sim X, Rise of Flight and others without problems. It only seems to be Trainz that needs special consideration in this regard. Quite a lot of people have had problems with various Trainz versions since 2006, IMHO mainly due to premature release, lack of testing and increasing disregard for their customers. One exception to this perhaps TC3.

as i said WHY DON'T PEOPLE WISH TO STATE THERE COMPUTER SPEC'S IF IT ISAN'T YOUR HARDWARE??????? give us your computer spec's please if you all wish to solve the problem, and maybe we can help you ,and direct x 9 needs to be installed
i have 3 computers and 2010 with sp3 runs spot on on each
regards steve

Hi Everyone,

As I said in my previous post I have had the same problem as jadebullet plus another one. My second problem I also reported and the reply was to ensure my Drivers where up to date which at the time they where not. Once I updated them everything "seemed" OK with this second problem however it is not. So I am again going to submit this as a 2010 SP3 problem/bug again.

My Spec's are;

ASUS P7P55D-E-PRO MB
Core i5 750
4GB Corsair RAM
GeForce GTX 260
Windows 7 Pro 64bit
plus the usual Hard Drives and an old monitor.

I have been lucky enough to Beta test some content from Vulcan and some may have seen similar shots to these in another thread. He has created a demo route to display how his Aircraft Carrier and Planes work so these 2 screenshots are from that Demo route. I placed another aircraft carrier on the route for my own testing purposes and when I open the route (to edit) and I am first looking at MY placed carrier I see this.

When I use the arrow keys to turn around to look at his placed Carrier which has planes on it and more "invisible" track connected I see something similar to the following. This at times will flash between similar "stuffed" images but if I move around again it will return to "normal". While I did not have this Ship before SP3 came out I have seen the same problem in other situations WITHOUT the Carrier only our usual trains since SP3 was installed. None of these sort of problems occurred before I installed SP3.

Any thoughts on this problem would be much appreciated.

BTW, I have also sent copies of this problem to Vulcan, but I am sure its not his Carrier, I have had it on a totally different layout and when looking at a Train.

I find that most problems occur when there are too many programs working in the background and if this is combined with a cluttered hard drive or some malware has sneaked under the radar. You really need a clean comp to run TS2010 these days, for instance if you are running a fancy screen saver these can course havoc with trainz. Do your self a favour and invest in a good System cleaner and give it a good scrub for trojans with a good virus killer.

Seeseeme,,
have you tried adjusting settings in the nvidia panel, very similair
to something that happend to me fixed it by nvidia panel settings ,,something to do with billinear or triellinear something like that i use ati now so these days with age i don't remember yesterday let alone 4 months ago
regards steve

Thanks Steve,

I could not find anything like that in the nVidia Control Panel so I did not touch anything :hehe:

Ian has replied that he has seen it before though with Locomotives. I am not that worried about it as it does not seem to effect anything and I can correct it by moving around. After that the problem does not appear until I return to the route.

Strange thing is though that it only started since SP3 came out.

it could be sp3 ,but i know i felt like an arse after i found it was the hardware with my problem with sp2 ,but please let us know either way.

Lovely. Well, apparently the "fix" works, so long as you don't want to keep things such as your hump yard settings that you just spent the last hour and a half setting up.

As for specs on my computer, I am too tired search for that stuff at the moment. Maybe later. (Not that it will help.)

I am running Direct X and have DX9 installed. (It doesn't work in open GL. I get some error which is fine by me. OGL sucks.) TADeamon seems to be the issue.

Jeez, it's stuff like this that makes one wonder if investing in Trainz 2010 is worth it. We have moved at least 10 years past the point where any Software need to be buggy, irrespective of Hardware.

Dear Auran,
Thanks for fixing my TS2010? I went to run 2010 today and it decided to do a EDR right off the bat rather than starting. Now it is running perfectly. I had run EDRs multiple times trying to see if it would help to no avail before, so I don't think that is what did it.

So yeah, I have no idea what happened but thanks?

That is good news, very pleased to hear everything seems to be back to normal.

yea i never had a problem with any patches but taddaemon communicates with the database and the game, kinda like an intermediate to handle the database operations. if it locks up, its probably because something in the database is broken, and yes usually if it locks up you wont be able to start trs.
