DCC Throttle Goes to Zero for no Reason

Trainz Luvr since 2004
I'm still learning the finer details of 2009 after using 2004 6 years.

I usually give orders to AI drivers and like to set back and view the action but from time to time like to take over manual control of a train in a session.

Here lies my question. In 2009 I've noticed I loose DCC control after taking over for a train. After I manually take control of the train for some short distance the the DCC throttle dials back to zero. I'll throttle up again and the same result after 30 seconds or so. Something seems to take over the DCC throttle and it resets to zero. I'm wondering if 2009 has some settings or feature I'm not aware of that is causing this odd behavior.

Thanks in advance for any explanations.

That's sounds weird. I've never seen that before with 2009 or 2010. I wonder if there's somerthing with your keyboard. Do any of your keys stick?

Yes. If I remember correctly, the slash/question-mark key is the "stop" key (i.e. it causes the DCC dial to return to the middle (stop) position). ;)

Regards.

If the controls are the same for 2009 as 2006 then W is throttle up, X is throttle down, and S is stop. The only time I`ve had the same problem was when I tried to throttle up too fast for the weight of the train I was pulling. Does it do the same thing if you start out having control instead of taking over a train already moving? If it does it everytime you try to control any train then maybe you do have keys sticking.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I'm pretty confident it's not a keyboard issue. I've never noticed any of those keys sticking using other applications.

Here's a couple of more things. I've only noticed it so far on Dermey's EK3 route. I also get an audible tone when the DCC control goes to zero. It sounds just like the buzz tone you get in surveyor when you try to move a spline but do not have the spline objects tab selected.

I wonder if it has something to do with the signaling on the EK3.

dcc zero no reason

try selecting pantographs up even if loco has none, have had this glitch too.

Sean_lee,

You might be on to something. Thinking back I was screwing around and ran the Amtrak Acela that day for fun on the EK3. I'll do some experimentation and update this thread.
