Excellent Clovis to Lubbock route: I must have forgotten all my prior years' Trainz skills

After a several year absence, I've returned to Trainz from TSW 4 and TSC 2024. The graphics and depth of Trainz I think is superior to other train simulators. The issue I'm having - which I don't believe is related to this particular route (Clovis to Lubbock) - is that I'm having all kinds of trouble getting trains to drive to trackmarks. Often either the train gets stuck, waits indefinitely for clearance, or attempts to route to a trackmark only to be derailed by a junction getting switched while the train is travelling over it. I must not understand something about how Trainz logic is changed, at least as it applies to issuing commands to drivers. Is there something obvious I might be missing??

Are you placing the consists on the route then driving? Things can get confused if the track marks are on a different layer which can occur in the route. By using a session instead, this puts everything together and the AI behave better with better being an overstatement at times with Trainz AI.

Things have changed a bit with newer versions and more so with TRS22 and its relations. There aren't a lot of changes but there are some that can impact driving. I've noticed that the AI tend to be a bit less forgiving like they used to be in the past.

JC - thanks for your suggestion. I tried placing a new track mark and a new consist, both on the session layer - the train derailed just like in previous attempts.

That's because there's a disconnect between the route and the session-layer.

Try creating an actual session. Select the route at the main Routes and Sessions menu.
Click on Sessions on the bottom right.
Create a session.

Place a consist or two.
Add a driver or two and attempt to drive.

I've driven this route before without any issues. I agree. Max did a great job with it. I've been through this area while out Storm Chasing on tour with Roger Hill in the 2010s.
