well as the thread title say.database repair is proving harmful to me everytime it runs
yesterday my data base got damaged .i repaired it but what happened that i lost my route i was working for 4 months.the sessions of routes are still there but the route file has been removed
same thing happens 3 weeks back with my brother that after data base repair has been done ,his route was also removed but the sessions remain there
its very painful to me that all my work has been ruined in a second.
i search for my route and i found that it was residing in trash folder with 3 to 4 files in a folder
is there anything to do so i can get rid of this?

 In CMP, look for a route called AUTOBACK or default...right click on one of these and select View in...Surveyor.

are you reffering me to auto save route?
no my route isnt there .there was other route saved on auto save route

Just to add if you back up your routes externally to the PC you at least won't keep loosing things.

If you are getting frequent database corruption I would suggest you need to check the PC over for faults, in particular disk or memory related ones, finding the cause of a problem is often easy and saves hours of frustration trying to struggle on with the same problem reoccurring time after time and blaming the software, which inevitably is not the problem.

Autosave doesn't use the route name but it will be whatever the last route you were working on was, saved under the name autosave, load it and you should find your route.

Your database repair didn't cause you to lose your data. Something else caused the data corruption. A database repair is just that. It will reindex the content and anything that is corrupted, or has a bad pointer, will be removed from the list. This is not to say that your database its self has become damage. This can happen as well.

Remember. It is important to wait a few minutes after exiting from Trainz before shutting down your computer. The TrainzUtil and TrainzDaemon are closing out files and running cleanup scripts during this time. By turning off the computer in the middle of this, you are guaranteeing a database corruption problem because these programs are writing to the database when this happens. There is a more visible way, other than just waiting for the drive lights to stop blinking, before shutting down your computer. This is done within Trainz TS2010 its self. Go to the Developer's tab in the Options screen, that appears when you first start Trainz. Check show command windows for database processes. (Or something like that. I don't have my Trainz computer on at the moment to check the working). Anyway, check the two boxes in the option screen whatever they're called and then start the program. With these options checked, two command prompt windows will open up, but stay minimized. They are active as long as they show there. When you shutdown Trainz, they will remain there for a few minutes longer as they clean up. Once they close, you can then shutdown.

Now having said this, there is a possibility that your route is still there. For one thing, check the Open for Edit tab in Content Manager. Anything that is OE will not show up in Trainz its self. The same with faulty content as well. You may have to commit your route and session, and that should bring it back in Trainz Surveyor route list. If the Route is faulty, you may have to open it and check the config.txt file. Sometimes a value can change in there that will cause a problem.

Anyway I hope this helps.

John
