CSX is Green, but UP and BNSF...

The only thing I'm left wondering is could the rest of the world sue the US when the sea is lapping at our door-step for not taking enough steps to prevent climate change and letting much uninformed people suing the most environmentally friendly form of transport - if it works one way surely it works the other way too... Perhaps if everyone stopped suing you may have a better economy, just a thought.

Bored with uninformed people trying to make a quick buck out of anything

:)

It's pretty tough to stop natural processes.

America's longest-lasting, biggest and most historic railroad sucks?

Lol no.

Uhmm considering the gov't helped them out because they didn't have the power or influence SP had so yeah they kinda do plus all those railroads were puny and or struggling I'd like to see them attempt to take over the SP in its prime and they did go bankrupt twice.

SP Never had any financial troubles did it??
When was SP's Prime??
ATSF Days?? SPSF?? That was Santa Fe with most of the boardmembers SF

Jamie

I don't know about that; there weren't too many railroads in the country that could have been considered "in their prime" in the 70s and even the late 60s in some cases due to regulation.

But did they have a lot of influence and power? SP and PRR were the only ones that would be considered as elite. They were always fighting for the top spot as far as the number 1 RR in the US.

And because of competition between planes, buses, trucks, cars and the Interstate Highway System, right?

Exactly. Add this and competition from other railroads, most had to merge or die off. Just read up about how Conrail came into being. A lot of railroads "in their prime" were sinking quick and the government had to step in or lose a large portion of the rail system due to bankruptcies. A lot more to it but that is it in a nut shell.

Dave.......

Railroad was here first, deal with it.

Agreed.

How could train air pollution possibly have an affect on childeren? Trains are there probably there for 5 minutes (at the most) and then there gone, until they pass your house again. The people who are sueing are just stupid. Trains were there first and the people who live near the tracks are obviously aware that they are going to see a train.

I could see if you lived next to a RAILYARD but anything else doesn't cut it. Sorry but if you choose to live near the tracks, then you know what you're in for.

P.S. BNSF and UP are the best RR you can possibly have. And my favorites at that. So, the people sueing are going to screw themsleves over by THEM getting sued.
