CSX Birmingham Sub!

Hello guys! Just thought I'd share some pics with you of my new CSX route called the Birmingham Sub. I have it all textured and all the track layed except in the southern corner. Please leave comments and feel free to add any suggestions you may have! NOTE: I do not live near or in the region which the route is located so it is not 100% as is in real life.​

Well guys, I've run into a problem. I went into CMP to check on the size of my route and I've hit 98.25MG'S That is large, very large. In spite of this I will try to host somewhere other than the DLS because I would not want ya'll to be sitting there for 2 and a half hours downloading just the map:hehe: There are around 500 dependincies aswell. This is mainly for 09 but I'm not sure if I can back date it by changing the trainz build?

I'd like to ask you to rethink this plan Ryan. The size will be the same size anywhere you host it, but the DLS will compile the needed dependencies as well, which will make it easier for the user to download.

I can see where you're comming from Euphod and I can understand, the problem I'm having is the fact that I don't think people would like to sit there for 2 days downloading 96Mb I will defenitley reconsider. Understand I can see where your comming from. 96mb and 500 dependincies that range from one's that are almost 10MB in themselves. Thanks to all who have commented. More pics tomorrow.

I'm with Euphod's crew...

I think the DLS allows 20MB...

So, copy the route with concurrent names(1,2,3,4) then delete all but what you wish to load...just leaving enough to trim & merge.

All the recipient needs to do is continue the track. Separate the end of route lines on a spline, somewhere near the end of baseboard, overlapping baseboards, etc.

First of all Thank you William. Secondly I'm not to sure. I downloaded the DEM from Paul (Fishlipsatwork) I cannot be certain. Like I said above. I do not live anywhere close to this (I'm in New York) I cannot be sure the Towns, industries and what-not are 100% correct, the track and rivers and roads are though. I will take an overall shot now and show you. If it helps any there is a VERY! large southern? end. Many baseboards big and has many spurs and old tracks. Someone posted me a link to the actual route. I will try to dig it up and find out for you!

Again a good suggestion. The only problem is I have a lot of grass splines and grass placements along with tons, and tons of trees. So the connection of it all will be a problem. Also some non-DLS content that impacts the route majorly. I will again think and try to find a resonable solution. It is tough with the route being so big. Even cutting it down to 4 pieces is an almost 25MB per plus the content that goes w/ each on. I will see what I can do as I have tonight off from work and no homework to speak of .

Yes, it is. In the shot of the Northern end of the route, I can make out Malfunction Junction and where 20 and 59 split. Off to the right and down (in this orientation) is Bessemer (with what appears to be a yard laid out) on the NS line.

As Ferrous pointed out it is in Alabama. The area between Birmingham and Montgomery. With this in mind I would offer two suggestions. One any visible dirt areas would be red clay and have a sort of burnt orange color. The other would be kudzu covers everything that doesn't move down here. Dmdrake has some nice kudzu covered trees and other items on the DLS. There is even a kudzu ground texture. Leave your evergreen trees as they are correct for that area. Much of the route passes through tree farms run by paper companies. Just add some kudzo along the right of way. Both of these ideas would really give the route a southern flavor.

Some ideas for industries and trains would be pulpwood and paper products, coal mines, heavy equipment, and farm products like cotton, sow beans, cattle. These would be handled at a farm CO-OP building where farmers bring their crops by truck and it is stored until loaded on a train.
