Creating new skins

I am trying to reskin a diesel locomotive. I have modified the skin, but now, I can't match it up with the... what, wire frame... and I get this message:

"Error: Unable to load source texture 'hash-db\copytempsrcp33iolae192\main.convert-tex' in subst 'local'
Message: <kuid2:126745:100011:1> committed"

Can someone tell what this means, and what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

First things to check:

1 - you have not saved the image (skin) file as a compressed file, some image editing software does this by default.

2 - you have not changed the size of the image file.

3 - you have not changed the name of the image file.

The above are the basics, check these before going into more detail.

I do not know how to help with the wire frame since I do not know what locomotive it is (I only know one that uses a wire frame).
But this quoted part, in addition to what itareus said, when you open an asset that has the bolded blue part in the error messages, check all TEXTURE.TXT files they show as CONVERT-TEX.TXT files and you have to change them back.

reskining

OK i know how to reskin but how do you apply it to the engine in trainz to use it??It would be nice to know.

I have a problem, I want to reskin an Alco C424 diesel, and if I try to select an area to make a stripe across, recolor by changing the brightness, etc. (I'm trying to make it black) save the image, then enter Trainz 2010 the loco is one solid color and there's an error in CMP saying that the main.tga could not be loaded. How can I modify the main.tga without it throwing up the error? It's a loco by Magicland, and I created a clone to do my reskin. There's a plain main file in there without any markings which I used as the main.tga file instead of the one which was already skinned. Can somebody help? Thanks, Robert. Please reply here because my pm box is full. The loco I'm trying to create is this

First the error, you need to run the mesh through PM2IM to fix a problem, it will remove a texture slot that causes the error.

Second, when you save the skin, did you save as the main.tga file or the filename of the undecorated?
