Creating a route map with "mapview" in game...

I'm sure there's a way to do this with screen shots, photoshop, etc.

I thought it would be nice to create an overhead map using screenshots and then photoshop to stitch the high resolution images together. Ideally I'd like to put the map on a .pdf file that could be zoomed in on.

Has anyone tried this? Have any tips or suggestions?
