Coupler HUD?

Just a quick question...when using the coupler strain HUD, what do the numbers represent? Also, what do the colors represent? (green, yellow, red). Is there any other HUD I should be using in conjunction with this one and what, if any, options are there other than to turn it on or off? I like the feature but would like to understand it better. Thanks for any help and ideas.

I believe the a higher number and red icon represents increasing amount of stress and vice versa although I could be wrong. If so someone correct me. The couple breaks when a predefined force is exceeded. This can be set using the Train Physics rule.
