Hello all,

I'm trying to fix some assets which I have shown as faulty. I'm doing this for 2 reasons. A.) I want to become better at it so that I may be able to do this in the future, and B.) I really want some assets that I love to work.

I've been editing many assets that show up as faulty. Most have been simple fixes that I have figured out by various posts by other users, and a little trial and error. These few however have really stumped me. Based on suggestions I have seen in other threads, I have managed to find files similar to those needed, which in some to most cases, it has worked and the file has been fixed. These assets however will not work, and I'm stumped as to why. Here are a few assets that have been giving me the msot trouble. Note: I am not asking people to fix these for me, I just would like a clue as to what I have done wrong, and a point in the right direction. I have not experimented with PEV's tools, so that may be one reason. I am running in TRS2012 with the latest patch. Any and all help is apprecieated!

Shell CSX YN2 Cab: <kuid:219472:1821>
Error: Texture 'map0-map0.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'shell.im'.
Note: There is no TGA or BMP files located anywhere that has that name. However, when deleting the txt file, the asset still looks for it.

BNSF ES44AC: <kuid2:113556:331129:1>
Error: Texture 'mesh_body/specgrey.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'mesh_body\mesh_body.im'.
Note: I have added a BMP, TGA, and Texture file, all with the name "specgrey" and added a corrisponding txt file, all to no avail.

Coach Bogey Silver: <kuid:69953:74>
Error: Texture 'env_metal.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'c_bogey.im'.
Note: Again, there have been files added with the "env_metal", all to no avail.

Ede Gava Station V1 and V3: <kuid2:270583:2188:1> and <kuid2:270583:2196:1>

Note: V2 does not contain these files.

Error: Texture 'celosia_b_01.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'gava.im'.
Error: Texture 'cercha_b_01.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'gava.im'.
Note: In each file, both celosia_b_01 nad cercha_b_01 show up. They're a TGA file and BMP file, respectivley. There are not however txt files for them. I've tried to add text files, again, to no avail.

Ryan - In order for anyone to try to help they're going to need the kuid of the broken assets so they know exactly which ones you're having problems with. I assume you're working in TS12, but when you have more than one version registered it's a good idea to let us know for sure.

The specgrey texture is applied to an illegal slot. Use PEV's PM2IM utility to clean it out, then save and commit. Can't help with the others.

I am still showing some errors that are stumping me. Any and all help would be appreciated!

Error: Texture 'celosia_b_01.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'gava.im'.

Note: Both assets have the cercha and celosia file present in the folder. I used PEV's PM2IM asset on them to no avail. Also, I have 2 other ede assets looking for celosia_b_01.texture, even though it's present there.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

I downloaded both stations and checked the mesh with PEV's Mesh_Text_Viewer and see that these 2 textures are applied as bump maps. The material name is labeled as "m.onetex" which is ok for a diffuse texture but must be "m.tbumptex" for bump textures. This error can only be corrected by the owner of the asset. You might try a PM or Email to ede627.

Nice going Ryan, but now can the fixed assets be uploaded for others to use as well? Why does every Trainz ueser that wants to use the some broken asset fix it individually.
This is a question that applies to all users that fix assets.

Thank you. I wondered that myself, however I'm not 100% sure on the re-uploading policy. I know N3V has taken the intiative and has a list where you can select to fix assets. However, I don't know how, or where to find it. I do not wish to anger any content creators out there by redistributing their work without proper notice. Especially since some of the content below came from 3rd party sites (Connyxy, Nikos1, and SPORBUST). Here is a list with the fixed assets. If any of the original creators would like the CDP's of the fixed version, or would allow me to resubmit to the DLS, please post!

The .texture file is a binary file that effectively combined the image file and the .texture.txt file. Use PEV's Images2TGA program, available on his website, to open the .texture file and convert it to a .tga file and a .texture.txt file.

Ryan; to find the list log into Planet Auran and click on the line 'DLS Cleanup' under the Trainz heading. I am interested in fixing older triain vehcles so that they can be used in TS12. (I just got permission to fix some of BenDorsey's TOTC cars.) However, I have no experience in textures. Keep up the good work.
