Convert Trainz 2004 to 2010

I am looking around and cannot find any posts or anything easy to convert my 2004 layout to 2010. I've spent countless hours on 2004 and would hate to lose it. I had tried exporting the 2004 version out and importing to 2010 and it's very slow to look at things. I have most of the elements in, but it's not working well and can barely see the tracks.

Is it possible to at least import the tracks and add the other items later?

My TRS2004 and earlier layouts loaded into TS2009 (compatibility mode) without a problem.

"compatibility mode" probably the key phrase here....
