Content Manager- What am I doing wrong?

I recently got back into Trainz, after not playing for a few years. I am using TRS2006. I have been downloading extra content for a few hours, and have a folder full of .cdp files which I imported into content manager. I also downloaded some from the Download station directly into content manager. However, none of this content is showing up in game. Also, since going through this, a route I was working on has completely disappeared. I'm not sure if this is related or not.

To get your route back load your route called autosave then save it out.
as for the missing downloads, TS2006 is no longer supported by the DLS.
I think you can only use it with a valid FCT, but don't quote me on that it's only what I've heard.

I have a valid FCT. I just registered the game, and I got a free FCT for 30 days. That doesn't explain the files I imported into content manager not showing up, though. I know I'm somehow using it wrong, but I don't know how else to use it.

Edit: There is nothing on the list in Surveyor called "Autosave". Also, I just started working again for a bit, saved, closed the program, then opened it again and BOOM. That save is gone too.

I think I'm just going to go get 2010, since 2006's graphics are quite outdated anyway... I'm not sure if that would fix my content manager issue, though. Is TS04/06 content compatible with the newer game?

Check open for edit in cmp, they'll be there.

If you are using Windows Vista or 7, make sure you are running it as administrator.

For the most part, yes. There's some stuff (I think mostly 04 and earlier) that is "broken", but there is a program underway called the DLS Cleanup to repair assets to work in TS2010 Native Mode. TS2010, as long as you don't install the multiplayer patch, also has a "Compatibility Mode" that will allow you to use most of the "faulty" content as well.

Well, they are not. They're there immediately, but not after I've closed the program and opened it again. And if I try to launch the game from CMP, it just freezes up and crashes. So I can get the content into the game, but it won't stay there if I try to play. I even archived some, and they were gone too after trying to play.

@Shane, if I do that will it actually save my routes? I assume thats the problem you were referencing.

Alright. Running in administrator, it doesn't crash when going to "View in Railyard" now, but the item is NOT there. My assets aren't disappearing anymore, so thanks. But I still cannot actually USE them.

It's worth noting that my CMP isn't communicating with the download station, either. It's saying that I need to register my serial number.

Edit: when I try to download something from the DLS, it says "Unable to register Trainz URL registry key".

If something is not appearing in Railyard, check to see if it is reporting as faulty (red ? or !), or missing dependencies (yellow ?)

Also, regarding the serial number issue, make sure your firewall software is allowing Trainz access to the Internet, and that you have entered your username/password into Content Manager (File > Settings > Internet)

Also, make sure you have a First Class Ticket, as since you currently only have TRS2006 and no later versions, you will need one to download from the DLS.

Alright I got the DLS to log in. I didn't realize my username and password weren't saved from last time I had the program open... my mistake. However, when trying to download something directly off of the DLS it still gives me the registry key message.

I'm currently trying to add a BNSF ES44AC. It came with a set of C449W trucks which are needed, but there is list of "unknown" kuids that cannot be found on the download station. It has the yellow "missing dependencies" logo, but when I view its dependencies it says "0 missing". There are 10 total, but 7 are "unknown".

Edit: I forgot to mention I do have a valid FCT, I got a free one for a month when I registered the game yesterday.

The registry key related error should have disappeared - you may need to restart the system and see if that helps.

As for the unknown KUIDS, post them here, and someone should be able to advise on where they can be found.

Here are the kuids, copy-pasted directly from the list. There are this many for many of the items I have, which leads me to believe that most of it is for later versions of Trainz. That seems more likely to me than all of this rolling stock simply being incomplete. This belief is reinforced by the fact that none of these are on the DLS.

There is a fair chance for that.

The easiest way of checking is to check the Build Version column (if it does not appear, try right-clicking the column headings to find that option)

Any that are above 2.6 are not for your version of Trainz.

EDIT: Just checked my version - that column does not exist in TRS2006 (you will have to use the web-based DLS to check the versions)

Try a extended database repair if you content mananger is still now working right. Maybe because you have a lot of stuff or a lot things with errors will cause content mananger to slow down because when I got rid of the error items mine sped my computer up.

Well it looks like you will have to restaill the game I don't know any more that can be done to fix it I am sorry if you lost a lot of content there.

That's the way to go.2010 is very stable but requires a bit more computer power. Make sure you clean the reg before installing 2010. 2006 did have lots of probs and some assets are no longer available.
