Content Manager - Tips and Tricks (any version)

It seems to be better value to buy TS2009 aand get a year and a bit of free downloads rather than three months on TRS2006 (which is only what I can afford!). I can't have TS2010 or TS2012 as they won't run on our 'ancient' desktop which has got to be at least 5-6 years ol now. I have seen on the TS2009 website that it is the same specs (or so it says) for TS2009 as it is for TRS2006. Is this correct?

Sorry to take this off topic.

If that's what it says, then that would be about right. However, if you have an Intel integrated graphics card in your system you may have problems with TS2009 including not being able to use Content Manager.

It says ion my DXDIAG report, I quote:
Card name: RADEON X300 SE 128MB HyperMemory
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.120821-1629)
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs)

How does this look?

Again, sorry for taking this off topic.

It's not a problem for me.

Meanwhile, I've checked the specs (http://ts2009.com/faq.php) for TS2009 - your operating system and CPU both meet the minimum requirement, but I'm not sure on the graphics card - someone else here may be more familliar with that particular graphics card.

Shane

Depending on what people say about my graphics card will probably get TS2009. If nobody responds I'll might give it a try anyway as it is only £5 on Amazon.

Thanks for your help Shane, it is much apprieciated. You may hear more from me on this thread in the future... ;)

I HAVE NOW SORTED THIS. Please ingnore or delete.

[[[Me again. Got more issues with the content manager and DLS.

I recently attempted to download the GW 1366 class and the GWR 4500 class and both have missing depencies that I can't find to download. How can I find these?]]]

Open with Macros

Shane, I having trouble getting the "Open with" macros to materialize with some of the PEVSoft utilities, where my TS12 location is "c:\program files\simulators\TS12" in WinXP SP3. I may have to manually install these macros. Can you give me the macro listing for Mesh Viewer ? Thanks in advance.

If the program supports Open With, it should prompt you on startup for the relevant folder(s). If it does not, look for a Set Up menu or similar.

I have had TS2010 for a while now, but I haven't used the Content Manager much until recently. I am having problems with many trains and structures I try to use that have errors that say that Trainz can't load a mesh. I search about this, but couldn't find anything. Any help with this problem or directions to another place that would help would be greatly appreciated!

After searching around the forums some, I found that I maybe have to mess around with older content to get it to work in TS2010? To be specific the errors I see often are:

-"Progressive meshes are no longer supported by Trainz... switch to an LOD mesh"

AND

-"Texture [name] is missing or could not be loaded for mesh [name2]"

And help finding directions on how to make this content work would again be appreciated very much.

That happens to me sometimes, especially with missing dependencies. (that happens to me alot.)

Try this:
"I:\Program Files (x86)\TS12\bin\TrainzUtil.exe" repairdatabase
The quotes are required for Pathnames with a space.

How do you fix faulty LUL Tunnel?

Hi Steviant,

Have you made sure you entered your Planet Auran username and password into the Configure Trainz box (Planet Auran tab)? - this can be re-accessed by clicking Options on the Launcher.

Shane
