Content Manager save configuration files?

Does anyone out there know which file(s) are the configuration files for Content manager? I have spent a lot of time creating tabs (when you do a unique search) for my projects and would like to preserve the unique CM setup I have created.

Thanks

When you enter the search criteria( as many as you want) there is an option to save, you will then get the option to name it. As many as you want.

Ok, I know that, what I'm asking is WHERE (or what file) is that "Saved" information in? Each time you save it, it creates a tab at the top unique to that save. The "configuration" file for CMP MUST be somewhere, but I cannot find it.

Let's say you crate 10 engines (or even one engine) create a tab unique to it so you can revert back to your data at will. You get a new computer and re-install Trainz. You can save your assets, but the CMP file(s) you created will be lost and you have to start all over again. I want to avoid that.

Clear as mud? :hehe:

I specialize in clear mud and dusty goggles especially when it's dark:(

I don't think your idea is possible unless there is something in the user data folder you can save for that purpose.

The data is already saved somehwere! If you create a "saved" tab, and exit CM, come back into it it's still there for EACH of the tabs you create! So there MUST be a file somewhere where this information is kept.

Interesting problem. I just now spent an hour trying to find where the tab headings are stored. I created a new tab, called "xxx", shut everything down and went looking for any file in my trainz directory that had been updated in the last 5 minutes. No file was found, which is strange considering, like TB says, it HAS to be stored somewhere. My "xxx" tab appears long before the DLS is contacted so it can't be stored online somewhere.

My curiosity has been piqued.

EDIT: Nothing in the Registry either.

I did the same thing. Created or modified CMP, then exit. Then I looked EVERYWHERE in TS12 folder (and sub folders) for anything with a date stamp that reflected when I made the change. Found nothing. Files I did find did not seem to be related to CMP. Or if the answer is in there, not sure about using them as a restore point. The mystery continues!

C:\Program Files (x86)\N3V Games\TS12\UserData\assets.tdx changes immediately whenever I issue a new search - incl. the very first time one of the predefined searches(tabs) is issued - and when CM closes down. Reissue a saved search and nothing happens, except for an occasional delayed change (autosave? - seems to happen every two minutes). So, at least some of the info, you are looking for, should be in this file, me thinks. It certainly holds the tabs.

Hmmm, this is one of the files that "we" are suppose to delete if we reload our assets from a save disk. Wonder if "we" should be saving this file also and use it as a restore point. Might be worth trying.

You are correct in saying that this file has to be deleted when restoring assets to a new installation. The reason for this is because this file is also the asset database, which would be incorrect on a new/restored installation.

I did some experimenting last night and although I could not conclusively locate the filters location, I did notice that when saving a new search the Userdata Cache is affected and the .cfg file. The .tdx file as well, but I don't think that's where the filters are.

I did not try this, but if that file is removed, and CM is started, are the custom filters still present?

At this point, my money is on the .cfg file.

Here's something that may interest you.

In TRS2006, Content Manager stored the filter settings in the Registry (under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Auran/Content Manager Plus)

For some reason, it's not the same for later versions.
