Content Manager - removing routes/sessions

Hello Everybody,

I'm using Trainz 2009 ( Dutch version SP 3 - but installed in English ).

I installed a route, some Belgian locomotives and at this moment I'm trying some routebuilding.

After installation of the route, I had some missing dependencies and some faulty errors.

I had a look on the DLS for the missing dependencies - downloaded them - reinstalled the missing dependencies, but when reinstalling the cdp's I got the message that the item was already installed - do you want to overwrite, skip etc.

So I decide to overwrite - result the item is still in the missing dependancies.

I did a database repair - but nothing changed.

Is this logic ??

I also noticed that some dependencies are no longer available on the DLS.
OK - I decide to remove the route and the attached session.
Route and session removed.

However - the database doesn't follow - the missing dependencies are still there - the faulty errors also.

Is there a solution ??

I also had a look for the following :

When you install serveral routes by using the content manager -

How do I know what kind of elements ( dependencies, objects, ... ) belong to a certain route.

Thank you

Best regards

In Content Manager, right click the route and select View Dependencies to get a list in a new window, then click the View in Main List. You now have a list of everything the route uses. You probably don't want to delete them though because many of them are probably used in other routes as well.

Hello Bob ( rweber95 ).

Thank you for your information. Now I know where to look for all the elements of a certain route. :)

I still have to learn a lot - knowing the way in content manager is certainly one of the items I really got to know well.

Best regards

It is also possible to remove a route/session from within Trainz (in the Surveyor menu), but I would advise caution.

Hello Shaneturner12,

I removed the route and session in the surveyor environment.
However, - the database doesn't follow - the missing dependencies are still there - the faulty errors also.

Best regards

Maybe you could list the kuid numbers of the missing dependencies as somebody may be aware of some issues and the solutions?

When you installed your items did you make sure that they were committed in CMP before you tried to use them? ;)

Hello Colin,

I re-installed everything - original package + service pack ( Sp 1 is included in the original Dutch version package + SP2 + SP3 ).

After installation of the package and service packs - I noticed the following 5 faulty errors

Harlem line, Niddertalbahn, Roanne 07, Rosworth Vale Sp2 and Wirtschaftwunder DE

When right clicking on Harlem line - viewing errors and warnings

I get following screen

The tag '0' is not permitted within a container of type 'map'
The tag 'thumbnail' is not permitted within a container of type 'map'

For the Niddertalbahn

I get - 1950s 1960s 1970s 1980s 1990s is not a valid value for tag 'category-era'. This tag is now empty and a new value must be selected

For the Roanne 07

I get quit a few errors - such as

The tag 'depot 17' in container 'string-table' is empty

and so on

These 5 faulty errors lead to 17 faulty dependencies.

And in the section warnings I have 78 warnings.

Not normal - I think.

Finding a solution - not easy

Best regards

Hello Deano5,

I committed all items which were possible to be committed.
Some are not authorised to be committed

Hi: Those "Tag" errors can generally be addressed however, they should not stop your routes from working. I would suggest that you ignore them until such time as you can identify an operational issue. i.e. Don't worry about them until something clearly does not work!

Hello Colin,

Ok - but I have also another issue with my copy of Trainz 2009.
The objects are presenting themselves really slow. Even in a selfmade route with nearly nothing in it.
Win xp prof sp 3 gives a better performance than Win 7.

I have created a helpdesk ticket for that issue.
I have also sent my selfmade route to the Helpdesk.
At the helpdesk they have the same problem.
This issue is not only related to my selfmade route but to all the routes.
I have even bought a new graphical card ( nvdia GTS 250 ) instead of the ATI 4650.

The GTS 250 had a major improvement within Win Xp prof - Win 7 however very small
Latest drivers were installed - changed settings in control panel of nvdia. Changed from OpenGl to direct X ( better ).

Are those errors in content manager responsable for the slow presentation in Win 7? I don' t know.

Installing the same package under WIn xp and WIN 7 gave different figures in errors.

Win xp - 5 faulty errors - 17 faulty dependencies -96 warnings

Win 7 - 10 faulty errors - 26 faulty dependencies - 83 warnings

And this only by installing Trainz2009 ( SP1 included ) + service packs 2 and 3.

Sure I can ignore those errors - but if you, in some routes, a that for a period, only see a train riding and no object appearing ( or very slow ), then the fun of playing is over.

So I want to solve this issue ;)

I can understand exactly what you are saying and, while this is not going to solve your problems, you may be interested to note that I also run GT250 video and very successfully ...... in Windows 7. The difference is that while I did purchase TS 2009 and 2010, neither of them impressed me so I am staying with TC3.

All the best (particularly as there are some beautiful European steam locos on DLS just waiting to be run)!

Hello Colin

OK - Nice to know that your graphical card has no problems with Win 7.
TC3 is running smoothly on Win 7.

For the moment, I will not upgrade to 2010 - however I can always have a look If I still can find TRS 2006 and see if this 2006 has the same problems on my computers.

Just now, I had a deeper look into the warnings - and one of them is video settings.

Perhaps this warning could give the Helpdesk a direction into finding a solution. :)

If it's of any interest:

- GT250 is set up based on maximum quality.
- Security program does not scan Auran files when they are running.
- Security program is on manual update.
- Windows is on manual update.

i.e. I am trying to avoid various programs from competing for resources while I run Trainz ........... and it seems to work once I have run a route for awhile and accumulated a good memory resource in "Saved Sessions."

Regards. Colin.

Hello Colin,

I have tried several settings in the nvidia control panel - haven't found the complete group of settings which gives me a good result.

I have several Harddisks - one for building - another for playing - no security program on it - because I don't go on the net with those harddisks.

For internet I use other harddisks ( yes I have several internal and external harddisks).

Best regards

Sounds like you are ahead of me re PC set up! Can only suggest that, unless there are features in 2009/2010 that you really like, you go and treat yourself to TC3. It is obviously based around UK routes but that can easily be changed as you probably know.

All the best. Colin.
