Do you still have any assets open for edit? If so, commit them first before archiving.

I have commited all assets and still get this message.

If you are running Windows Vista or 7, make sure you are running Trainz as administrator.

running Windows Xp, Plus Trainz will only run on an administrator.

Do I need a FCT to archive things?
Do I need a FCT to download things from archives?

You shouldn't need one to use archives, but it may be worth checking if you can write a CDP file to the same location (right-click asset, Save as CDP)

thanks for all of the help.
Eventually, I discovered that it would write out the archive if I removed a 390 train I had in it. It seems that a couple of the train cars had fauly dependancies that were not alowing the assets to be commited. Thanks again,
