Content Manager Assets vs. Surveyor Objects

Hi all,

I am new to Trainz (2010) and therefore not yet familiar with of all it's concepts. This question may have been asked before but I have not found an answer to it by searching the forum. It may also be the wrong place to ask but I do not know better where to post it, yet.

When creating a new route in Surveyor I expected to beeing able to add any object that is listed in Content Manager under Installed (not disabled there) to the basebord.

There is an asset in Content Manager under Installed saying that it is a built-in building. It is called Wohnhaus1. In Surveyor however it is not listed as an object when I select the Object Mode button. This seems to be the case for a lot of the assets listed in Content Manager under Installed.

I suspect that I do not understand the concept of what assets will be available where, yet. So I would apprecite a word of advice from you all.

Thanks a lot

Hi NetZoss
I was just going to ask something similar.
I know that you can add to the Picklist in Content Manager and it will appear in Surveyor, did it once but cannot repeat it.
Another 2004 -2010 miss-match maybe
Will watch with interest the replies from they_that_know;)

Check the following for a possible solution: Start Trains 2010 - Route - Edit -
Main Menu (top left) Options - Surveyor Settings - at bottom of list make sure "only display favourites" is NOT ticked.
Hope this is what you are after.

You are correct, was ticked.
And for Netzoss's benefit, I closed tr2010, opened Content Manager, went to Installed, dragged and dropped the Tunnel into Picklist, File, Launch Trainz and as if by magic it appeared in the Content Search Filter.
That may be a long-winded way of doing it but...
Thanks Ron.

You guys aren't the first to be caught by this, and likely won't be the last. I'll mention here that there is also a filter for routes/sessions that by default hides anything that is not 5-star rated. To toggle it, click the gold star on the routes screen.

The funny thing is that the Surveyor setting is actually mentioned in the manual. So I guess it just goes to show how few people actually read manuals these days. :)
