Constant bell ringing

I downloaded a route the other day and in both Surveyor and Driver there was a persistent clanging bell somewhere. Floating over the route, the noise rose and fell until I finally located the object(s) making the sound. It is a US road/rail crossing with the KUID of 523:23314.

Even in Surveyor with no trains anywhere on the route, the bell is active at the crossings (there are a lot of them). Is there any way to make the bell work properly? I can easily disable the sound altogether, but I'd much rather it just worked when the train was approaching and using the crossing.

This is for TS2012 latest build.

It sounds like one of those poor, built-in crossings that ring constantly. Your only options are to, as you said, disable the sound, or replace the crossing with something better, such as ATLS crossings or something that generally works better.
I'd recommend bnsf50's grade crossings, myself. They work pretty well.

Yeah. I figured I'd eventually have to just replace them. You can't simply use 'replace asset' because you'd then have to go over the miles of track and find the disconnects. That means one at a time. I like BNSF50's crossings also and use them all the time on my own routes. Temporarily, I've disabled the bell in the config file, but that isn't a solution.

In the assets folder you can "Create New Folder", and drop the wav file into that "New Folder", and Trainz will not be able to find the wav file (you can do this with any file in the assets folder, just drop it into the "New Folder", and pull it back out, and drop it back in, if you ever need it again) (You can even drop an original config file into the "New Folder" and edit a copy of the config file ... and if it gets messed up, just delete it ... and retrieve the original config file from the "New Folder", or copy paste it back into the assets file)

In my case, it was easier to replace them than I thought. For some reason, I never noticed that this was supposed to be a Japanese route, so why would there be a "drive-on-the-right" crossing setup? Changed to a JPN crossing and all is well.
