Consists Derails

JohnnyC1

Pioneer Valley RR
Using Ver 2010
When in AI mode my consists consist constantly derails when taking a deserving route. The switch points are normally set for the main line, when AI aligns the points for the branch or diverging line, the last car will derail because the points will go back toward the mainline with that car still over the points. This has happened in more then one location and always when the points are in the trailing direction. It seems that the AI does not wait for the last car to clear the junction before aligning to the mainline. Of course this does not happen when driving in non-AI mode.

I have had exactly the same problem previously - it is a known bug in Trainz.

You may be able to fix it by using the Check Turnout Alignment rule (which according to it's description, should fix the bug in question)

If this fails, you may need to use the TakeJunctionPermit and ReleaseJunction rules.

I have used the "Check Turnout Alignment," it does not work in 2010, worked in 2009. What is, and where is "TakeJunction & Release Junction," rules.
I have relayed the track, created a spline close to the frog, and that seems to work.

OK, I made a slight error when posting the last message - the junction rules are WaitforJunctionPermit and ReleaseJunction (enter these names into the DLS search box to get a description for each - they are also available in a pack)

It is good to see that you seem to have a solution to the problem though.

Correct Placement of Switch Levers

Johnny, I think the placement of the levers reletive to the ponts of a switch may be your problem, especially if you modified the tracks after placement.
Chuck (crb001) has a good tutorial on this at this link:

Hope this helps you:)

Thanks, I have read the article. The route was d/l and I did not modify the turnout. It was fixed by moving the spline on the diverging track closer to the frogs.

Thanks again,
Johnny

same problem

Hello guys,
I have same problem, my map is still working (from TRS2004 ;-) and I have ALLWAYS derailed consist after diverging the main line... :(
I note that I am not a beginner, I have Trainz since the first edition. And my map have over 5k downloads. The problem is accurately described in the first report: when the train turns, and the last car is close before the junction, so it always points to switch to the default switch position. The last car then derails  :(
Is here anybody from Auran? I think this problem is for developers...
I have TS2009 v 40040 (and TRS2006,TRS2004,Trainz... ;) )

Here is a screenshot, described this situation:

If you do use the re-rail portal, make sure that it is connected to the rest of the layout - the train is re-railed at the portal itself.

still derails

down load rerail portal.... it will re rail youe derail

Thank you... I always use re-rail portal at my maps, BUT this is not fix for problem with derails. :n:
BTW: Maps have over 80km main line! This is a lot of time, when cars will be delivered - customers kill me shortly :( I need solution for this problem. After another piece of testing, I can say follows:
- lenght of train is irregular (train derail with 33 or 25 or 18 cars allways)
- replacing of juntion is irreegular - replaced junction allways derail train
- distance between junctions is irregular (other junctions, with same distance works perfectly)
- problem is in same place (twice in my map), with any train

Any other suggestions? :'(

If you are using TS2009 or before, try the Check Turnout Alignments rule (According to some forum posts, this does not work in 2010) - there is a known bug in Trainz where a junction is changed by another driver while the first train is still over it (usually the last coach/wagon) - usually happens if the train has had to stop at a signal - might be worth reviewing the signalling in the area as well to reduce this happening. Failing that, the junction may be too sharp or the lever(turnout) is on the wrong side.
