I am in Australia too, hey when your on there log into the chat, i might be there (railragaussie is my user)The reason for all the locos is that they are all different so maybe thats why it is called the Heritage train.
The reason also for the retro rollingstock.
There is a clip on Youtube of the same train coming up Horseshoe Curve and it is really working hard. Check out on the vids at the end of thie video from Cresson.
Also checked out the audio on the website, great to hear trains at work when you are on the other side of the worldand cant railfan in person.
