config file

I don’t know if there is a tutorial or not, but I got so frustrated at having the wrong default loads set for certain cars, I started playing with the file. The cars that put me over the top were some very nice woodchip cars that had a default coal load. When sent off line they always came back loaded with coal so I changed the first load in line to woodchips and removed all the other loads. Now all the “woodchip” cars come back loaded with woodchips.
First off, to ease your mind: If you mess up a config file beyond repair, just delete the asset and down load it again, or before you start, save a copy and use it to restore.
And the legal disclaimer: Any modification you make to an asset without getting permission from its creator is to be used only on your computer.
So, study the files, play with them and have fun

If you can't find help any other way I suggest you use the config.txt file of a similar type of asset that does work and compare that one to the one you want to edit. You'll learn a lot from a working config.txt file by seeing what is needed and how it's worded. One point is that in a config.txt file, the first word of each line is a 'tag' and the rest of the words in the line are its parameters. Also, it doesn't matter what order the tags are listed. John's suggest to look at the CCG (Content Creator's Guide) is worthwhile since it defines tags and their parameters.
