combining two maps together

It is possible to 'merge' two different routes into one, via the surveyor interface. Your manual should be able to explain just 'how' to do this, better than I can (without pictures/etc, to make it easier) :)

Further to the reply from Muliebuck I would add that it is probably better to add a smaller map to a larger one. Then there could be a process of cleaning up afterwards especially around the tracks of interactive industries and stations as the joins have a habit of separating just enough to cause derailment but not enough to spot on a casual look. When you finally get it all together then enjoy!

can't see the joins

Hi - Most trainzers suggest putting a blank base between two merged maps. Add them to the end of one layout and save it (under another name) and then merge the other route onto the far side of the blanks. There have been instances when trying to load the merged maps (without blanks) where Trainz crashes mid-load as it cannot fathom out the scenery and track joins for both sides. This is especially true when both joining parts have different heights on the bases.

I suggested you save your route with the added blanks under another name because if things do not work out then you can always backtrack and try something else with the original layouts. From experience of joing maps I found it easier for the transition between the two maps to be able to smooth things across a blank base anyway. Saves a lot of hair-pulling.

Hope this helps.

Check elevations before merging !

One caveat to beware of...Check the height of each map before merging. Most are built at "0" elevation but, many are at "real" elevation which could be hundreds of feet. Obviously, you would have trouble merging if the elevations were that much different.
Check elevation by opening the top tab in surveyor and clicking the "get height" button. It will read out the height at the location of the surveyor compass.
