Coal Country 2.0 - Official Route WIP Thread

Close up of the bethgon I have skinned for the update. Still some small tweaks needed, but quite like the look. I also have 55t and 85t hoppers in the works :)

A wonderful addition to Richmond! Though I will say one thing, those blast furnace assets you're using a quite old. How about you give the ones made by BTVFD a go and see how they look here? Kuids are, <kuid:359354:107042>,<kuid2:359354:107055:2>,<kuid2:359354:107057:1>

Definitely love what you are doing with Coal Country. You already had done an amazing job making Coal Country and now it's even looking better.

Hey Scratchy
I found parts of Dave Snow's Paper mill, Ethanol Plant, and Cottonseed Oil Plant kits very useful. I found the pipe splines and pipe bridges from Dave's kits worked great, as well as Deane's (Dinorius_Redundicus) larger 1 and 2 meter pipes for the furnace pipes. The processing building 3 from the paper mill kit worked well as a power station, and the ethanol plant cooling facility looks good next to it. The Ethanol Corn storage building works well as an auxiliary building. There's also the Steel Plant kit that you can fall back on for any auxiliary buildings you'd like to setup that don't have a suitable match.

I really like how you've married the mill into the hills and forest, it looks fantastic. Engine service area looks great too.

Oh dear - I go down the rabbithole of giving Richmond a steel mill... Still work in progress, any suggestions on assets are much appreciated!

Woah, that's a nice steel mill. Cant help but wonder, do you think you'll make some newer slag cars for this too? Looks to me like you're using the TRS01 era cars there. I also think giving the steel mill its own switchers would be cool. Something like a Cow+Calf set or some bog standard SWs/MPs.

Thanks guys, it'd be great to see some new rolling stock for steel mill operations. I can't say what will happen there though. Here are a couple of shots on random locations around the map. More and more locations are getting filled in and detailed.

A basic reskin of this ancient TPR tipple on the DLS should fill in the scene for this abandoned location.

It takes four of the RRPX GP units to haul this 3900t coal train up and over the new branch. What do people think of the old JR SOU signals? I quite like them and they add some variety

Seems to be a bit of a theme for me but hopefully not a bad thing... Was originally happy with this tipple and the adjacent flat paddock area but after spending some more time on flickr and getting inspired, I decided I wanted something that could handle more cars, was larger, and in a narrower gully.

You can see the before and after here. They're different angles but the loop track is still in the same location. I'm happy with how it is going so far.

For those following the route progress WIT Simulations have done a youtube live stream. It will be the first livestreamed chance for you all to look at Coal Country 2.0, feel free to show some support here

If people are interested, I can maybe also have a go at some streaming at some point, although being in Australia my times never quite match up with the rest of the world!
