Coal Country 2.0 - Official Route WIP Thread

Been watching the live stream, saving some more Scratchy goodness for later. Can't go 3 hours right now. BUT! As Darth Vader once said "Most Impressive!"

Another loadout pretty much roughed in to 85%. Happy with how it all looks and works :)

I also went to town with lighting for the Bledsoe loadout after seeing how well lit these all are in real life. I think the effect is pretty neat in the valley.

Just my two cents: IMO, I like a the original dark red from the passenger cars, I thought it looked good against the gray engines. I like a lot of the various cars you have here. I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't like to see that second F unit in RPPX colors leading the passenger excursions.

Can't wait to see what you do with the loco roster.

This route definitely captures Pennsylvania coal country to a T! I visited the Anthracite region in 2014 and many of the areas on your Coal Country 2.0 look very similar.

Pennsylvania right down into West Virginia, and parts of southwestern New York state have tall north-south running ridges with steep valleys and occasional notches between them. In order to traverse east or west, both roads and railroads head north or south then cross through a notch to get to the other side.

When coal was first discovered, the coal companies initially shipped via river before the railroads came along a bit later. With the companies taking the prime land in the lower part of the valley, the residents were forced to live on the ridges and slopes above. This is obvious with some of the towns such as Jim Thorpe and Lehighton, located along the Lehigh River in eastern Pennsylvania and Brownsville in the western part of the state, located along the Monongahela River.

Ever since i first got this route back in the T:ANE days, it always had and still does have special place in my heart, everytime i load it up i somehow discover something new about it, somehow, it feels magical due to the amount of love and passion put into it, it never feels monotonous nor does it ever feel too overwhelming, it feels up to date while also having an old classic trainz feeling to it. Unlike a lot of other routes i've played in trainz, none had ever had me continuously return to it for some sense of comfort or for fun, sure it has its blemishes here and there, but somehow it feels perfect.

A lot of the new work going into it now seriously does make it feel like something beyond trainz, and i mean that in a really good way, it looks larger then life from all the small snippits i've seen of it, take as much time as you need on it, it'll only make it feel more real.
