My Contents Manager Plus isn't working. It works fine on my desktop but not on my laptop. My Desktop is a Dell XP and my laptop is a Vista. Anything to help? I hate using stock stuff! :'(

Vista you have to run Trainz as Administrator or turn off the UAC, if you have done that have you installed OpenGL drivers on the laptop as CMP wont work without it.

Hi,

IIRC you need to have OPEN GL compatible drivers for the CMP - this isn't always possible on a laptop.

It's back to the video card/hardware requirements....

Open GL and CMP

So you need to have OpenGL to run CMP? This explains why after I did a clean install of Windows7 on my HP desktop, then installed TC and TRS2006 (got the warning about no Open GL but I thought ok I'll just run using DirectX), CMP would not launch in either TC and TRS2006. I could not understand why, since it worked fine in Vista. I turned UAC off and also did the run as admin thing to no avail. So to solve the problem I reinstalled Vista from the recovery CDs (which of course would have the original HP installed drivers), reinstalled TC and TRS2006 and all is well. So if I ever try this again, where would I get Open GL drivers - from Nvidia? (I have integrated Nvidia GPU).

By the way, going from Vista home prem 64-bit to Windows 7 home prem 64-bit got me 0.2 improvement on my Windows experience gaming rating, not as much as I had hoped.

I have the CMP error that goes like

Content Manager Plus has encountered a problem and needs to close we are sorry for the Inconvenience

The Windows experience scores apart from IMO being a load of rubbish, are according to Microsoft, using different values to rate the score in Win7 to the ones used in Vista and as I understood it, will give a lower score for the same performance, so you can't actually compare the two OS's. Probably frightened of letting people know just how bad Vista was. :hehe:
Better off using benchmarking software for a realistic comparison.;)

Assuming the hardware can handle OpenGL, then Nvidia's drivers should support it. After that clean install of Win7 you may have had really old drivers installed (or even generic drivers, though I would think you'd notice that) and may not have had all the features that come with the drivers you get direct from Nvidia.

re drivers for open gL

My PC is 6 months old and came with Vista with the HP supplied drivers so it ran TRS 2006 & TC fine under open GL. But of course with a clean install of Windows 7 those drivers were lost. What surprised me is that Windows 7 did not include a sufficient collection of drivers such that open GL would run (without me having to find/install them). But now I know what I need to do - thanks.

You could try telling us what exactly is happening when you try to run it. Including any and all error messages.

Ok when I try to open the CMP It states.

Contents Manager Plus has stopped working and needs to close.

then it gives me two options close now or wait for program to responed which it never does.
