I installed TS2010 on top of 2009 and I opened the CMP application.
There are over 13000 objects listed as 'Update available'. Are these objects installed on my harddisk which have a newer version available on the DLS or is this a general icon to present certain items have been updated by their owner, regardless of location on your harddisk or still on thr DLS?

Thanks!

Not got 2010 yet as I ordered the DVD, however I would imagine it's going to be the need to do an extended database repair fix? On 2009 it sometimes seems to need to be done twice to sort things out if you have a large amount of assets.

I'm guessing you are looking at items on the DLS. What this message means is there is a newer version of the same item. Or to think of it another way, It is saying "This is an old item, don't download it, download the newer one." Ts2010 did ship with 18 items that show this icon. You can see them by doing a multi-line search like this:

Location = local
Out of Date = True
Built-in = True

There really isn't a reason to worry about these items but if you want to update them you would do a search like this:

Name = the name of the item

That will show you the out of date item and the newer one. Download the newer one from the DLS. Be aware that sometimes the names are not exactly the same but the KUID should be except for the last number which should be higher like kuid:12345:45678:1 -->kuid:12345:45678:2

There is a little blue dot to the right of the word Search on the top of the search panel. If you click it you will see a history of your previous searches. Just choose the earlier search to go back to the list of 18 out of date items.

Thanks William,
Can you confirm this icon only shows in front of older items which are on the DLS or does it also show for installed items as well?
In other words, how can you distinguish between items installed and on DLS which are out of date? Is your search explanation the only way?

It will show for any item that has a newer version regardless of the location of the out of date item or the newer version. If you want to see all the items on your local drive that are out of date do this search:

location = local
out of date = true
