CLUB CAR: New Release: Reading & Northern Route

Any chance this will work with TS2009 or am I just out of luck unless I update?

Paul

That is correct. TS12 only at this point simply due to the amount of content used that is built in in that version and is not available in others.

Thanks. Looks like I wont get to enjoy this route for awhile. I dont think my current computer will handle TS12. Is TS12 any more demanding than TS2009?

Is this going to be out yet? We non-club car members are all like this right now:

I made some signs that would go good with this route, they are signs in the Lehigh Gorge area, the New Track Connection sign there's two of them, one is by the bridge where the new track connecting the Nesquehoning Branch with the RBMN Main Line (Lehigh Line) on the north side of the bridge, the skewed truss bridge over the two tracks of RN and NS, and the other sign is at Old Penn Haven just south of CP-Independence along the track south of the connecting track between RN and NS so that NS freights coming from Allentown can access the RN track to go up to CP at Dupont (another connecting track) to reach Binghamton, NY. Then, the sign near where the track to the Lehigh River bridge (ex-CNJ) branches off the Main Line (ex-LV) near Jim Thorpe, it says Shortcut to Tamaqua, Reading, Philadelphia Tell Your Boss: It's a better way than Sunbury!!! I made those signs using road signs from the DLS, and changing the texture to a picture of the signs from photos I found. I cut the sign out of the photos and pasted them into the texture files of the road signs. I might also do the section north of CP-Independence to Mehoopany and maybe Towanda where RBMN's newest line is, the Monroeton line which had a washout recently I think? I also made the sign at Dupont saying Welcome to the Reading and Northern Railroad showing the mileage to Penobscot, Lehighton, Allentown and Philadelphia.

Is there ever going to be a "Part II" to this route with the line north of Old Penn Haven-CP-Independence toward White Haven, Pittston, etc.? If not, I'm going to build that segment myself. I already did, with just track and a little bit of scenery but it's merged to the old beta route which has the unfinished areas like Pottsville, Hazelton, etc. as well as the NS Reading Line with the R&N tracks going all the way south to Belt where the NS junction is. I made my own DEM with TranzDEM to fill in the gaps between Hamburg and Leesport. Now it looks like I'm going to have to start over and rebuild the section north of Old Penn Haven. I might build it as a separate route before joining it with with the R&N route so that just in case if any one wants it I can release it by itself since the club car R&N route is non-distributable outside of club car. Once I merge them together, and if I don't have a backup copy of my own route (section north of Old Penn Haven) it'll be too late. I'll probably have a separate backup copy of my section by itself in case I can release it by itself since it'll be my own work. Then someone has to merge it with their own copy of R&N, provided you can merge two finished routes together in 12 without crashing if the bug was fixed since the build upgrade. I patched my 12 for 12 to be able to "see" the R&N route so that it appears in the routes list. Can anyone tell me if merging two finished routes together works in the patched version of 12? I didn't try it yet.

Josh has expressed interest in the progressive expansion of this route to include the majority of the R&N over time so yes this will more than likely happen, but theres no real timeline on it.

Look at this

I wish Trainz #425 was this good. Trainz #425 is just a repaint of S&A 4-6-2 excursion from Ben Neal. These are MSTS models, btw. Is there any way to "convert" an MSTS locomotive to use in Trainz? I know the file structures are different and the image files for the skins are different, MSTS uses .ace compression whereas Trainz uses.tga. I like how the creator made both old and new #425, the 1992-1996 version and the 2007-2008 and up version.

You cannot without the consent of the original author reverse engineer MSTS/RW/any other games content for use in Trainz. It is illegal though it seems to be popular as of late. I may be bias but I'd say the USLW one looks better than either of those.

But the MSTS version of #425 is an exact model built from scratch, the USLW version is a repaint of a different 4-6-2 which is not an exact match to #425 but pretty close. The tender on the Trainz version looks sort of like the tender on Southern #630 with the curved tops on the front sides where the coal is. #425 has flat sides on the top. What I did for the Trainz version is I used a tender from Ben's 2-8-2 Mikado the ones where there are two different versions, high or centered headlight and I replaced the skin with the one from #425 tender and it works. Now the tender looks more correct. Don't mean to be nitpicky, but I also changed the font on the tender sides to Clarendon like the Reading and Northern font, by copying and pasting part of the tender texture over the words, and typing Reading and Northern with the correct font. The font that was used for the tender was Railroad Roman, but the correct font is Clarendon. I also stretched the Reading and Northern words on the tender this one photo editor I have has the ability to stretch letters and space them apart.

Only error with the route I have noticed so far, however I never get much time to test it out as I do not own the computer I am using.
