Cloning Rolling Stock

I would like to clone some rolling stock in order to save them with specific "supported commodities" so that they are available to pick with building a consist but I'm having a tough time finding any comprehensive tutorial on how to accomplish this task.

In this particular case the subject asset is an "89ft Autorack DRGW" with the Status=Packaged. My goal is to add multiple vehicles as being supported (i.e., Automobile Chrysler, Automobile Mercedes Benz) with the corresponding load enabled using the "Click here to configure queue support."

When I perform the clone, I modify the clone config file giving it a new username (89Ft Autorack DRGW - XXX), save it and submit the edit. Now there is a new asset "89Ft Autorack DRGW - XXX" but the status shows up as being "Modified, Faulty."

This is where I get lost. Suggestions on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

In Content Manager, right-click and choose Revert to original. Editing a built-in or DLC asset is more trouble than its worth and requires many more steps to do what you want. There are plenty of autoracks on the DLS that are suitable for what you want. Clone one of the auto racks you downloaded and add in the cars you want. Remember, you need to add this kuid to the kuid-table usually located at the bottom in the config.txt.

You can't save an asset with commodities loaded but you can configure a session to start with the freight cars preloaded.

To have your autoracks load the cars when you start your session, create a session from the Routes and Sessions menu.
Click on your route.
Click on sessions.

You'll probably see a "default" session. You can edit, which might be a good idea if you have configured any industries already, and then set things up for your autoracks.

Once set up and tweaked how you like it. Use Save-as and put in a new name to differentiate from the "default" session because that can become very confusing as time goes on due to having more than one default session.

I have cloned many assets, with Packaged status. If their status did not update to Packaged, because it is part of store assets, the status should have been Modified or Installed from DLC.

Just clone, the moment you clone, a copy is created with your user kuid. Open in explorer and copy the content to an outside folder, do your edits to commodity list and drop the folder back to the content manager. Submit edits.

Tip, I created a save search "My Content Today", this helps with find your content for the day. I make backups of my content daily
