Before I attempt to clone/copy and foul up hours of work I thought I would ask.
What is the best way to do it and keep the original route AND session untouched?
Both session and route will be needed for tidying up.

Well the best way is to CLONE/COPY the route. When you go in the surveyor mode go into the route you want to clone and do this:
