Classics or World Builder?

Hope someone can help me!

I'm completely confused about which product to buy.

The World Builder edition seems to offer what I want in terms of building my own layouts, but I don't know if it offers the period I am interested in?
Classics Edition offers the period I am interested in, but I don't know if it allows me to build my own layouts?

What I ideally would like is to be able to build my own layouts with English steam locos.

Any help gratefully received!

There are a lot of posts about this if you search around on this forum.

However at the moment Trainz Classics 3 is your best bet.

You can in fact build your own routes in all versions of Trainz but for UK steam the best version at the moment is TC3.

Hope this helps

TC3 has the best support through Trainzclassics.co.uk, If UK steamers were my area of interest, I would choose TC3 and stay with that until the rest of the group embraces 2009.

You need two things, the first is the built in content from TRS2006 etc that does not come with TC3 and second you need the TC3 content.

The DLS (DownLoad Station) has some 100,000 items for free download so much of the content you will want to use will be found there. If you have a look at the web site in my signature you'll find a fair bit of scenery and other content that might be useful. Unfortunately a lot of rolling stock etc uses bogeys etc that are part of the built in content and these items are not available without purchasing a version that contains it such as TRS2009 or TC3. TC3 and TRS2009 both have the technical improvements for steam locos in them. The TC3 website lists these.

My current recommendation would be to purchase TRS2009 to give you the built in content and the latest game engine plus TC3 for its content. Then import the TC3 built in content into TRS2009.

It's not ideal but it seems to be the best combination currently available. Technically TRS2009 does nice things such as compressing the textures so it gets more out of your graphics card whilst the TC3 content is probably some of the best steam era UK content available.

If you were to go to the Auran shop and change your currency to US $ and purchase the digital downloads using Paypal that would probably get you the lowest price for both. Please remember to send a cheque to the UK government for the VAT separately. You may want to check your internet connection to see if it will allow 4.6 gigs of download some UK accounts have quite small download limits on them.
