hi can someone give me information about the class 37 during the 1970's?
like what did it look like, and im guessing it used MK2 coach?

thanks

Much like a class 37 today although only in green or blue livery, not tarted up like an ice cream van like today. In the 1970s they were mainly used on secondary freight so a rake of 16 tonners and a brake van would look fine!

If you wanted to run passenger service with them, MkIIs could be used, but remember that the MkI coaches remained in service right into the 1990s, so there would have been loads still working in the '70s. Some would still be painted Maroon or Southern Railway Green, but coaches were repainted very quickly into blue to represent the "modern cooperate image" of British Rail.

How do you mean "tarted up"? Is this a reference to EW&S Red and Gold? I quite like the DRS dark blue livery (see a lot of that in Cumbria), but I haven't seen an EW&S 37 for some time here.

What's left of Kingmoor MPD, now operated by DRS:

Basically corporate blue with yellow noses. Headcode boxes active until c.1972/3, then '0000' until the double dots could be applied. Not really plated over until the end of the decade or 1980s. TOPS numbers applied after Dec 1973, previously D6600-6608/D6700-D6999 series. Mainly freight, but could be seen pulling passenger trains - Mk1 and Mk2, a, b, and c, around, particularly on summer Saturdays. A staple on London Liverpool St to Kings Lynn expresses for many years.
